| In OpenStack Swift before 2.36.2 and 2.37.2, s3api middleware enters an infinite loop when processing a truncated aws-chunked PUT request body. The StreamingInput class repeatedly appends an empty buffer and re-reads, causing the proxy-server worker handling the request to become permanently unresponsive with increasing CPU and memory consumption. An authenticated attacker can systematically exhaust all proxy-server workers, resulting in denial of service. The defect was introduced in Swift 2.36.0. | |||||

| Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') vulnerability in benoitc hackney allows Excessive Allocation. The Alt-Svc response header parser in src/hackney_altsvc.erl does not guarantee forward progress. When parse_token/2 receives a non-token, non-whitespace, non-comma byte (e.g. !, @, =, ;), it returns the input unchanged. skip_comma/1 also returns the buffer unchanged when the first byte is not a comma. parse_entries/2 then recurses with identical data, creating a tight infinite tail-recursive loop that pins a scheduler at 100% CPU. The calling process never returns. The entry point parse_and_cache/3 is called synchronously in the connection process on every HTTP response. A single-byte Alt-Svc: ! response header is sufficient to trigger the hang; the header is fully controlled by any HTTP origin the client connects to. This issue affects hackney: from 2.0.0-beta.1 before 4.0.1. | |||||

| libheif is a HEIF and AVIF file format decoder and encoder. In versions 1.21.2 and below, a crafted 800-byte HEIF sequence file causes an infinite loop in Box_stts::get_sample_duration(), consuming 100% CPU indefinitely with zero progress, leading to DoS. The loop has no iteration limit or timeout and is triggered during file open (parsing) - before any user interaction or image decoding. The process stays alive (no crash, no error logged), making it invisible to crash-based monitoring. This issue has been fixed in version 1.22.0. | |||||

| OpenMcdf is a fully .NET / C# library to manipulate Compound File Binary File Format files, also known as Structured Storage. In 3.1.3 and earlier, the BST name-lookup loop in DirectoryTree.TryGetDirectoryEntry (OpenMcdf/DirectoryTree.cs:35-46) walks directory entries by repeatedly calling directories.TryGetSibling(child, siblingType, validateColor). A crafted CFB file with cyclic Left/Right sibling links among directory entries, constructed so the per-step BST-order check in TryGetSibling (DirectoryEntries.cs:84-85) is satisfied at every step, drives this while (child is not null) loop forever. There is no cycle detection in TryGetDirectoryEntry, and the bug is reachable from RootStorage.OpenStorage(name), TryOpenStorage(name), OpenStream(name), and TryOpenStream(name), causing an unrecoverable denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 3.1.4. | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/v3d: Reject empty multisync extension to prevent infinite loop v3d_get_extensions() walks a userspace-provided singly-linked list of ioctl extensions without any bound on the chain length. A local user can craft a self-referential extension (ext->next == &ext) with zero in_sync_count and out_sync_count, which bypasses the existing duplicate- extension guard: if (se->in_sync_count || se->out_sync_count) return -EINVAL; The guard never fires because v3d_get_multisync_post_deps() returns immediately when count is zero, leaving both fields at zero on every iteration. The result is an infinite loop in kernel context, blocking the calling thread and pegging a CPU core indefinitely. Fix this by rejecting a multisync extension where both in_sync_count and out_sync_count are zero in v3d_get_multisync_submit_deps(). An empty multisync carries no synchronization information and serves no useful purpose, so returning -EINVAL for such an extension is the correct defense against this attack vector. | |||||

| xrdp is an open source RDP server. In versions 0.10.6 and prior, a n issue was discovered where the software fails to properly validate the totalLength field within the RDP protocol control header during packet reception. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted packet that forces the xrdp process or thread into an infinite, CPU-bound loop. Because the internal pointer fails to advance and the deadlock prevention mechanism is bypassed for specific protocol data unit types, the process consumes excessive CPU resources indefinitely. This can render the xrdp service unavailable and potentially lead to system-wide resource exhaustion if multiple malicious connections are established. This issue has been fixed in version 0.10.6.1. | |||||
