| CVE-2026-20941 | 1 Microsoft | 3 Windows 11 24h2, Windows 11 25h2, Windows Server 2025 | 2026-07-30 | N/A | 7.8 HIGH |
| Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Host Process for Windows Tasks allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. | |||||
| CVE-2026-67433 | 2026-07-30 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Linuxfabrik monitoring-plugins provides Python monitoring plugins for Icinga, Nagios, and related monitoring systems. In version 6.0.0, the logfile check legacy database migration moved a predictable path from /tmp with os.rename() and allowed a local user controlling the plugin account to place a symlink that would be followed by sqlite3.connect() during a root-run check. | |||||
| CVE-2026-64616 | 2026-07-30 | N/A | 3.3 LOW | ||
| Data::NDArray::Shared versions before 0.02 for Perl create a world-readable mmap backing file and open it without O_EXCL or O_NOFOLLOW. The segment is created in ndarray.h with open(path, O_RDWR|O_CREAT, 0666). The mode is 0666, so under the default umask 022 the file is created mode 0644 (world-readable). O_NOFOLLOW is absent, so a symlink planted at the path is followed, and O_EXCL is absent, so the open silently uses a pre-planted file instead of failing. A "Shared" segment naturally lives in a shared directory such as /tmp or /dev/shm, where any local user can read the IPC payloads stored in the world-readable segment, and a pre-planted file or symlink at the path lets a local attacker win a pre-creation race or redirect the open. | |||||
| CVE-2026-13723 | 2026-07-30 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM | ||
| A vulnerability in the `zipx.Unzip` extraction routine of Develar's app-builder allows an attacker to overwrite arbitrary files on macOS APFS by exploiting a Unicode Normalization Collision combined with symlink following behavior. APFS treats certain Unicode equivalent filenames as identical (e.g., ß ↔ ss), while app builder performs no canonical normalization before validating or writing paths. As a result, a crafted ZIP archive containing: • a symlink entry named ss pointing to a target file, and • a regular file named ß containing attacker controlled data, will cause the second write to follow the symlink and overwrite the target file. | |||||
| CVE-2026-13268 | 2026-07-30 | N/A | 7.8 HIGH | ||
| G DATA Total Security Backup Service Link Following Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of G DATA Total Security. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the Backup Service. By creating a symbolic link, an attacker can abuse the service to delete a file. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of SYSTEM. Was ZDI-CAN-28665. | |||||
| CVE-2025-4211 | 2026-07-29 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') vulnerability in QFileSystemEngine in the Qt corelib module on Windows which potentially allows Symlink Attacks and the use of Malicious Files. Issue originates from CVE-2024-38081. The vulnerability arises from the use of the GetTempPath API, which can be exploited by attackers to manipulate temporary file paths, potentially leading to unauthorized access and privilege escalation. The affected public API in the Qt Framework is QDir::tempPath() and anything that uses it, such as QStandardPaths with TempLocation, QTemporaryDir, and QTemporaryFile. This issue affects all version of Qt up to and including 5.15.18, from 6.0.0 through 6.5.8, from 6.6.0 through 6.8.1. It is fixed in Qt 5.15.19, Qt 6.5.9, Qt 6.8.2, 6.9.0 | |||||
| CVE-2026-43765 | 1 Apple | 1 Macos | 2026-07-28 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| This issue was addressed with improved handling of symlinks. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, macOS Sonoma 14.8.8, macOS Tahoe 26.6. An app may be able to modify protected parts of the file system. | |||||
| CVE-2026-12503 | 2026-07-27 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Improper Link Resolution (CWE-59) in `/usr/bin/larm_starter` in Loytec L-INX, L-GATE, L-ROC, L-IOB, L-DALI, L-VIS and L-PAD through 8.4.16 on LINX-A64 allows an authenticated `larmapp` attacker to make `/etc/passwd` writable by the `larmapp` group (leading to root privilege escalation) via a symlink attack on `/etc/lighttpd/ssl/server.pem`. | |||||
| CVE-2026-17459 | 2026-07-27 | 4.0 MEDIUM | 4.3 MEDIUM | ||
| A vulnerability was determined in perwendel spark up to 2.9.4. This vulnerability affects the function staticFiles.externalLocation of the file src/main/java/spark/resource/ExternalResourceHandler.jav of the component SparkJava. Executing a manipulation can lead to symlink following. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet. | |||||
| CVE-2026-58203 | 1 Pydantic | 1 Pydantic-settings | 2026-07-27 | N/A | 5.3 MEDIUM |
| pydantic-settings provides settings management using Pydantic. From 2.12.0 until 2.14.2, NestedSecretsSettingsSource reads secret values from files in a configured secrets_dir. When secrets_nested_subdir=True, a directory entry inside secrets_dir that is a symbolic link pointing outside secrets_dir is followed, so files outside the configured directory are read into settings values. The same code path bypasses the documented secrets_dir_max_size protection. An attacker or lower-privileged component able to influence entries in the configured secrets directory (for example, a writable or shared secrets mount) can turn this into an unintended local file read into settings and can defeat the advertised loading-size cap. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.14.2. | |||||
| CVE-2026-32282 | 1 Golang | 1 Go | 2026-07-25 | N/A | 6.4 MEDIUM |
| On Linux, if the target of Root.Chmod is replaced with a symlink while the chmod operation is in progress, Chmod can operate on the target of the symlink, even when the target lies outside the root. The Linux fchmodat syscall silently ignores the AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW flag, which Root.Chmod uses to avoid symlink traversal. Root.Chmod checks its target before acting and returns an error if the target is a symlink lying outside the root, so the impact is limited to cases where the target is replaced with a symlink between the check and operation. | |||||
| CVE-2021-47949 | 2026-07-25 | N/A | 8.8 HIGH | ||
| CyberPanel 2.1 contains a command execution vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers to read arbitrary files and execute remote code by exploiting symlink attacks through the filemanager controller endpoint. Attackers can manipulate the completeStartingPath parameter in POST requests to /filemanager/controller to create symbolic links, read sensitive files like database credentials, and execute arbitrary shell commands through the /websites/fetchFolderDetails endpoint. | |||||
| CVE-2026-34078 | 1 Flatpak | 1 Flatpak | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 10.0 CRITICAL |
| Flatpak is a Linux application sandboxing and distribution framework. Prior to 1.16.4, the Flatpak portal accepts paths in the sandbox-expose options which can be app-controlled symlinks pointing at arbitrary paths. Flatpak run mounts the resolved host path in the sandbox. This gives apps access to all host files and can be used as a primitive to gain code execution in the host context. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.16.4. | |||||
| CVE-2026-27456 | 1 Kernel | 1 Util-linux | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 4.7 MEDIUM |
| util-linux is a random collection of Linux utilities. Prior to version 2.41.4, a TOCTOU (Time-of-Check-Time-of-Use) vulnerability has been identified in the SUID binary /usr/bin/mount from util-linux. The mount binary, when setting up loop devices, validates the source file path with user privileges via fork() + setuid() + realpath(), but subsequently re-canonicalizes and opens it with root privileges (euid=0) without verifying that the path has not been replaced between both operations. Neither O_NOFOLLOW, nor inode comparison, nor post-open fstat() are employed. This allows a local unprivileged user to replace the source file with a symlink pointing to any root-owned file or device during the race window, causing the SUID binary to open and mount it as root. Exploitation requires an /etc/fstab entry with user,loop options whose path points to a directory where the attacker has write permission, and that /usr/bin/mount has the SUID bit set (the default configuration on virtually all Linux distributions). The impact is unauthorized read access to root-protected files and block devices, including backup images, disk volumes, and any file containing a valid filesystem. This issue has been patched in version 2.41.4. | |||||
| CVE-2026-34452 | 1 Anthropic | 1 Claude Sdk For Python | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 5.3 MEDIUM |
| The Claude SDK for Python provides access to the Claude API from Python applications. From version 0.86.0 to before version 0.87.0, the async local filesystem memory tool in the Anthropic Python SDK validated that model-supplied paths resolved inside the sandboxed memory directory, but then returned the unresolved path for subsequent file operations. A local attacker able to write to the memory directory could retarget a symlink between validation and use, causing reads or writes to escape the sandbox. The synchronous memory tool implementation was not affected. This issue has been patched in version 0.87.0. | |||||
| CVE-2026-40977 | 1 Vmware | 1 Spring Boot | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 4.7 MEDIUM |
| When an application is configured to use `ApplicationPidFileWriter`, a local attacker with write access to the PID file's location can corrupt one file on the host each time the application is started. Affected: Spring Boot 4.0.0–4.0.5 (fix 4.0.6), 3.5.0–3.5.13 (fix 3.5.14), 3.4.0–3.4.15 (fix 3.4.16), 3.3.0–3.3.18 (fix 3.3.19), 2.7.0–2.7.32 (fix 2.7.33); PID file / symlink behavior (`ApplicationPidFileWriter`). Versions that are no longer supported are also affected per vendor advisory. | |||||
| CVE-2026-42574 | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 7.5 HIGH | ||
| apko allows users to build and publish OCI container images built from apk packages. From version 0.14.8 to before version 1.2.5, a crafted .apk could install a TypeSymlink tar entry whose target pointed outside the build root, and a subsequent directory-creation or file-write entry in the same or later archive could traverse that symlink to reach host paths the build user could write to. This issue has been patched in version 1.2.5. | |||||
| CVE-2025-43257 | 1 Apple | 1 Macos | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 8.7 HIGH |
| This issue was addressed with improved handling of symlinks. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.6. An app may be able to break out of its sandbox. | |||||
| CVE-2026-35400 | 1 Mcgill | 1 Loris | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 3.5 LOW |
| LORIS (Longitudinal Online Research and Imaging System) is a self-hosted web application that provides data- and project-management for neuroimaging research. From 20.0.0 to before 27.0.3 and 28.0.1, an endpoint in the publication module was incorrectly trusting the baseURL submitted by a user's POST request rather than the internal LORIS value. This could result in a theoretical attacker with publication module access forging an email to an external domain under the attacker's control which appeared to come from LORIS. This vulnerability is fixed in 27.0.3 and 28.0.1. | |||||
| CVE-2026-41364 | 1 Openclaw | 1 Openclaw | 2026-07-24 | N/A | 8.1 HIGH |
| OpenClaw before 2026.3.31 contains a symlink following vulnerability in SSH sandbox tar upload that allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files. Attackers can exploit this by uploading tar archives containing symlinks to escape the sandbox and overwrite files on the remote host. | |||||
