CVE-2026-31422 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: cls_flow: fix NULL pointer dereference on shared blocks flow_change() calls tcf_block_q() and dereferences q->handle to derive a default baseclass. Shared blocks leave block->q NULL, causing a NULL deref when a flow filter without a fully qualified baseclass is created on a shared block. Check tcf_block_shared() before accessing block->q and return -EINVAL for shared blocks. This avoids the null-deref shown below: ======================================================================= KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000038-0x000000000000003f] RIP: 0010:flow_change (net/sched/cls_flow.c:508) Call Trace: tc_new_tfilter (net/sched/cls_api.c:2432) rtnetlink_rcv_msg (net/core/rtnetlink.c:6980) [...] =======================================================================
CVE-2026-31421 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: cls_fw: fix NULL pointer dereference on shared blocks The old-method path in fw_classify() calls tcf_block_q() and dereferences q->handle. Shared blocks leave block->q NULL, causing a NULL deref when an empty cls_fw filter is attached to a shared block and a packet with a nonzero major skb mark is classified. Reject the configuration in fw_change() when the old method (no TCA_OPTIONS) is used on a shared block, since fw_classify()'s old-method path needs block->q which is NULL for shared blocks. The fixed null-ptr-deref calling stack: KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000038-0x000000000000003f] RIP: 0010:fw_classify (net/sched/cls_fw.c:81) Call Trace: tcf_classify (./include/net/tc_wrapper.h:197 net/sched/cls_api.c:1764 net/sched/cls_api.c:1860) tc_run (net/core/dev.c:4401) __dev_queue_xmit (net/core/dev.c:4535 net/core/dev.c:4790)
CVE-2026-23398 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: icmp: fix NULL pointer dereference in icmp_tag_validation() icmp_tag_validation() unconditionally dereferences the result of rcu_dereference(inet_protos[proto]) without checking for NULL. The inet_protos[] array is sparse -- only about 15 of 256 protocol numbers have registered handlers. When ip_no_pmtu_disc is set to 3 (hardened PMTU mode) and the kernel receives an ICMP Fragmentation Needed error with a quoted inner IP header containing an unregistered protocol number, the NULL dereference causes a kernel panic in softirq context. CVE-2026-23381 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: fix nd_tbl NULL dereference when IPv6 is disabled When booting with the 'ipv6.disable=1' parameter, the nd_tbl is never initialized because inet6_init() exits before ndisc_init() is called which initializes it. Then, if neigh_suppress is enabled and an ICMPv6 Neighbor Discovery packet reaches the bridge, br_do_suppress_nd() will dereference ipv6_stub->nd_tbl which is NULL, passing it to neigh_lookup(). This causes a kernel NULL pointer dereference. BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000268 Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI [...] RIP: 0010:neigh_lookup+0x16/0xe0 [...] Call Trace: <IRQ> ? neigh_lookup+0x16/0xe0 br_do_suppress_nd+0x160/0x290 [bridge] br_handle_frame_finish+0x500/0x620 [bridge] br_handle_frame+0x353/0x440 [bridge] __netif_receive_skb_core.constprop.0+0x298/0x1110 __netif_receive_skb_one_core+0x3d/0xa0 process_backlog+0xa0/0x140 __napi_poll+0x2c/0x170 net_rx_action+0x2c4/0x3a0 handle_softirqs+0xd0/0x270 do_softirq+0x3f/0x60 Fix this by replacing IS_ENABLED(IPV6) call with ipv6_mod_enabled() in the callers. This is in essence disabling NS/NA suppression when IPv6 is disabled.
CVE-2026-23304 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: fix NULL pointer deref in ip6_rt_get_dev_rcu() l3mdev_master_dev_rcu() can return NULL when the slave device is being un-slaved from a VRF. All other callers deal with this, but we lost the fallback to loopback in ip6_rt_pcpu_alloc() -> ip6_rt_get_dev_rcu() with commit 4832c30d5458 ("net: ipv6: put host and anycast routes on device with address"). KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000108-0x000000000000010f] RIP: 0010:ip6_rt_pcpu_alloc (net/ipv6/route.c:1418) Call Trace: ip6_pol_route (net/ipv6/route.c:2318) fib6_rule_lookup (net/ipv6/fib6_rules.c:115) ip6_route_output_flags (net/ipv6/route.c:2607) vrf_process_v6_outbound (drivers/net/vrf.c:437) I was tempted to rework the un-slaving code to clear the flag first and insert synchronize_rcu() before we remove the upper. But looks like the explicit fallback to loopback_dev is an established pattern. And I guess avoiding the synchronize_rcu() is nice, too.
CVE-2026-23300 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ipv6: fix panic when IPv4 route references loopback IPv6 nexthop When a standalone IPv6 nexthop object is created with a loopback device (e.g., "ip -6 nexthop add id 100 dev lo"), fib6_nh_init() misclassifies it as a reject route. This is because nexthop objects have no destination prefix (fc_dst=::), causing fib6_is_reject() to match any loopback nexthop. The reject path skips fib_nh_common_init(), leaving nhc_pcpu_rth_output unallocated. If an IPv4 route later references this nexthop, __mkroute_output() dereferences NULL nhc_pcpu_rth_output and panics. Simplify the check in fib6_nh_init() to only match explicit reject routes (RTF_REJECT) instead of using fib6_is_reject(). The loopback promotion heuristic in fib6_is_reject() is handled separately by ip6_route_info_create_nh(). After this change, the three cases behave as follows: 1. Explicit reject route ("ip -6 route add unreachable 2001:db8::/64"): RTF_REJECT is set, enters reject path, skips fib_nh_common_init(). No behavior change. 2. Implicit loopback reject route ("ip -6 route add 2001:db8::/32 dev lo"): RTF_REJECT is not set, takes normal path, fib_nh_common_init() is called. ip6_route_info_create_nh() still promotes it to reject afterward. nhc_pcpu_rth_output is allocated but unused, which is harmless. 3. Standalone nexthop object ("ip -6 nexthop add id 100 dev lo"): RTF_REJECT is not set, takes normal path, fib_nh_common_init() is called. nhc_pcpu_rth_output is properly allocated, fixing the crash when IPv4 routes reference this nexthop.
CVE-2026-23293 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: vxlan: fix nd_tbl NULL dereference when IPv6 is disabled When booting with the 'ipv6.disable=1' parameter, the nd_tbl is never initialized because inet6_init() exits before ndisc_init() is called which initializes it. If an IPv6 packet is injected into the interface, route_shortcircuit() is called and a NULL pointer dereference happens on neigh_lookup(). BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000380 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI [...] RIP: 0010:neigh_lookup+0x20/0x270 [...] Call Trace: <TASK> vxlan_xmit+0x638/0x1ef0 [vxlan] dev_hard_start_xmit+0x9e/0x2e0 __dev_queue_xmit+0xbee/0x14e0 packet_sendmsg+0x116f/0x1930 __sys_sendto+0x1f5/0x200 __x64_sys_sendto+0x24/0x30 do_syscall_64+0x12f/0x1590 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e Fix this by adding an early check on route_shortcircuit() when protocol is ETH_P_IPV6. Note that ipv6_mod_enabled() cannot be used here because VXLAN can be built-in even when IPv6 is built as a module.
CVE-2026-23277 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: teql: fix NULL pointer dereference in iptunnel_xmit on TEQL slave xmit teql_master_xmit() calls netdev_start_xmit(skb, slave) to transmit through slave devices, but does not update skb->dev to the slave device beforehand. When a gretap tunnel is a TEQL slave, the transmit path reaches iptunnel_xmit() which saves dev = skb->dev (still pointing to teql0 master) and later calls iptunnel_xmit_stats(dev, pkt_len). This function does: get_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats) Since teql_master_setup() does not set dev->pcpu_stat_type to NETDEV_PCPU_STAT_TSTATS, the core network stack never allocates tstats for teql0, so dev->tstats is NULL. get_cpu_ptr(NULL) computes NULL + __per_cpu_offset[cpu], resulting in a page fault. CVE-2026-23084 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: be2net: Fix NULL pointer dereference in be_cmd_get_mac_from_list When the parameter pmac_id_valid argument of be_cmd_get_mac_from_list() is set to false, the driver may request the PMAC_ID from the firmware of the network card, and this function will store that PMAC_ID at the provided address pmac_id. This is the contract of this function. However, there is a location within the driver where both pmac_id_valid == false and pmac_id == NULL are being passed. This could result in dereferencing a NULL pointer. To resolve this issue, it is necessary to pass the address of a stub variable to the function.
CVE-2026-23060 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: authencesn - reject too-short AAD (assoclen<8) to match ESP/ESN spec authencesn assumes an ESP/ESN-formatted AAD. When assoclen is shorter than the minimum expected length, crypto_authenc_esn_decrypt() can advance past the end of the destination scatterlist and trigger a NULL pointer dereference in scatterwalk_map_and_copy(), leading to a kernel panic (DoS). Add a minimum AAD length check to fail fast on invalid inputs.
CVE-2026-23019 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: marvell: prestera: fix NULL dereference on devlink_alloc() failure devlink_alloc() may return NULL on allocation failure, but prestera_devlink_alloc() unconditionally calls devlink_priv() on the returned pointer. This leads to a NULL pointer dereference if devlink allocation fails. Add a check for a NULL devlink pointer and return NULL early to avoid the crash.
CVE-2026-22992 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 7.5 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: libceph: return the handler error from mon_handle_auth_done() Currently any error from ceph_auth_handle_reply_done() is propagated via finish_auth() but isn't returned from mon_handle_auth_done(). This results in higher layers learning that (despite the monitor considering us to be successfully authenticated) something went wrong in the authentication phase and reacting accordingly, but msgr2 still trying to proceed with establishing the session in the background. In the case of secure mode this can trigger a WARN in setup_crypto() and later lead to a NULL pointer dereference inside of prepare_auth_signature().
CVE-2026-22982 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: mscc: ocelot: Fix crash when adding interface under a lag Commit 15faa1f67ab4 ("lan966x: Fix crash when adding interface under a lag") fixed a similar issue in the lan966x driver caused by a NULL pointer dereference. The ocelot_set_aggr_pgids() function in the ocelot driver has similar logic and is susceptible to the same crash. This issue specifically affects the ocelot_vsc7514.c frontend, which leaves unused ports as NULL pointers. The felix_vsc9959.c frontend is unaffected as it uses the DSA framework which registers all ports. Fix this by checking if the port pointer is valid before accessing it.
CVE-2026-22977 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sock: fix hardened usercopy panic in sock_recv_errqueue skbuff_fclone_cache was created without defining a usercopy region, [1] unlike skbuff_head_cache which properly whitelists the cb[] field. [2] This causes a usercopy BUG() when CONFIG_HARDENED_USERCOPY is enabled and the kernel attempts to copy sk_buff.cb data to userspace via sock_recv_errqueue() -> put_cmsg(). The crash occurs when: 1. TCP allocates an skb using alloc_skb_fclone() (from skbuff_fclone_cache) [1] 2. The skb is cloned via skb_clone() using the pre-allocated fclone [3] 3. The cloned skb is queued to sk_error_queue for timestamp reporting 4. Userspace reads the error queue via recvmsg(MSG_ERRQUEUE) 5. sock_recv_errqueue() calls put_cmsg() to copy serr->ee from skb->cb [4] 6. __check_heap_object() fails because skbuff_fclone_cache has no usercopy whitelist [5] When cloned skbs allocated from skbuff_fclone_cache are used in the socket error queue, accessing the sock_exterr_skb structure in skb->cb via put_cmsg() triggers a usercopy hardening violation: [ 5.379589] usercopy: Kernel memory exposure attempt detected from SLUB object 'skbuff_fclone_cache' (offset 296, size 16)! However, on hardware where the button is left floating, that node will most likely be removed not to enable that input. In that case the code will try to dereference a null pointer. Let's use the regs struct instead as it is defined for all supported platforms. Note that it is ok setting the key reg even if that latter is disabled as the interrupt won't be enabled anyway.
CVE-2025-37945 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: phy: allow MDIO bus PM ops to start/stop state machine for phylink-controlled PHY DSA has 2 kinds of drivers: 1. Those who call dsa_switch_suspend() and dsa_switch_resume() from their device PM ops: qca8k-8xxx, bcm_sf2, microchip ksz 2. Those who don't: all others. The above methods should be optional. For type 1, dsa_switch_suspend() calls dsa_user_suspend() -> phylink_stop(), and dsa_switch_resume() calls dsa_user_resume() -> phylink_start(). These seem good candidates for setting mac_managed_pm = true because that is essentially its definition [1], but that does not seem to be the biggest problem for now, and is not what this change focuses on. Talking strictly about the 2nd category of DSA drivers here (which do not have MAC managed PM, meaning that for their attached PHYs, mdio_bus_phy_suspend() and mdio_bus_phy_resume() should run in full), I have noticed that the following warning from mdio_bus_phy_resume() is triggered: WARN_ON(phydev->state != PHY_HALTED && phydev->state != PHY_READY && phydev->state != PHY_UP); because the PHY state machine is running. It's running as a result of a previous dsa_user_open() -> ... -> phylink_start() -> phy_start() having been initiated by the user. The previous mdio_bus_phy_suspend() was supposed to have called phy_stop_machine(), but it didn't. So this is why the PHY is in state PHY_NOLINK by the time mdio_bus_phy_resume() runs. mdio_bus_phy_suspend() did not call phy_stop_machine() because for phylink, the phydev->adjust_link function pointer is NULL. This seems a technicality introduced by commit fddd91016d16 ("phylib: fix PAL state machine restart on resume"). That commit was written before phylink existed, and was intended to avoid crashing with consumer drivers which don't use the PHY state machine - phylink always does, when using a PHY. But phylink itself has historically not been developed with suspend/resume in mind, and apparently not tested too much in that scenario, allowing this bug to exist unnoticed for so long. Plus, prior to the WARN_ON(), it would have likely been invisible. This issue is not in fact restricted to type 2 DSA drivers (according to the above ad-hoc classification), but can be extrapolated to any MAC driver with phylink and MDIO-bus-managed PHY PM ops. DSA is just where the issue was reported. Assuming mac_managed_pm is set correctly, a quick search indicates the following other drivers might be affected: $ grep -Zlr PHYLINK_NETDEV drivers/ | xargs -0 grep -L mac_managed_pm drivers/net/ethernet/atheros/ag71xx.c drivers/net/ethernet/microchip/sparx5/sparx5_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/microchip/lan966x/lan966x_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/dpaa2/dpaa2-mac.c drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/fs_enet/fs_enet-main.c drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/dpaa/dpaa_eth.c drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/ucc_geth.c drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/enetc/enetc_pf_common.c drivers/net/ethernet/marvell/mvpp2/mvpp2_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/marvell/mvneta.c drivers/net/ethernet/marvell/prestera/prestera_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/mediatek/mtk_eth_soc.c drivers/net/ethernet/altera/altera_tse_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/wangxun/txgbe/txgbe_phy.c drivers/net/ethernet/meta/fbnic/fbnic_phylink.c drivers/net/ethernet/tehuti/tn40_phy.c drivers/net/ethernet/mscc/ocelot_net.c Make the existing conditions dependent on the PHY device having a phydev->phy_link_change() implementation equal to the default phy_link_change() provided by phylib. Otherwise, we implicitly know that the phydev has the phylink-provided phylink_phy_change() callback, and when phylink is used, the PHY state machine always needs to be stopped/ started on the suspend/resume path. The code is structured as such that if phydev->phy_link_change() is absent, it is a matter of time until the kernel will crash - no need to further complicate the test. Thus, for the situation where the PM is not managed b ---truncated---
CVE-2025-23143 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-07-14 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: Fix null-ptr-deref by sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and rmmod. When I ran the repro [0] and waited a few seconds, I observed two LOCKDEP splats: a warning immediately followed by a null-ptr-deref. [1] Reproduction Steps: 1) Mount CIFS 2) Add an iptables rule to drop incoming FIN packets for CIFS 3) Unmount CIFS 4) Unload the CIFS module 5) Remove the iptables rule At step 3), the CIFS module calls sock_release() for the underlying TCP socket, and it returns quickly. However, the socket remains in FIN_WAIT_1 because incoming FIN packets are dropped. At this point, the module's refcnt is 0 while the socket is still alive, so the following rmmod command succeeds. # ss -tan State Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address:Port Peer Address:Port FIN-WAIT-1 0 477 10.0.2.15:51062 10.0.0.137:445 # lsmod | grep cifs cifs 1159168 0 This highlights a discrepancy between the lifetime of the CIFS module and the underlying TCP socket. Even after CIFS calls sock_release() and it returns, the TCP socket does not die immediately in order to close the connection gracefully. While this is generally fine, it causes an issue with LOCKDEP because CIFS assigns a different lock class to the TCP socket's sk->sk_lock using sock_lock_init_class_and_name(). Once an incoming packet is processed for the socket or a timer fires, sk->sk_lock is acquired. Then, LOCKDEP checks the lock context in check_wait_context(), where hlock_class() is called to retrieve the lock class. However, since the module has already been unloaded, hlock_class() logs a warning and returns NULL, triggering the null-ptr-deref. If LOCKDEP is enabled, we must ensure that a module calling sock_lock_init_class_and_name() (CIFS, NFS, etc) cannot be unloaded while such a socket is still alive to prevent this issue. Let's hold the module reference in sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and release it when the socket is freed in sk_prot_free(). Note that sock_lock_init() clears sk->sk_owner for svc_create_socket() that calls sock_lock_init_class_and_name() for a listening socket, which clones a socket by sk_clone_lock() without GFP_ZERO.
