| CVE-2025-5372 | 2 Libssh, Redhat | 3 Libssh, Enterprise Linux, Openshift Container Platform | 2026-09-01 | N/A | 5.0 MEDIUM |
| A flaw was found in libssh versions built with OpenSSL versions older than 3.0, specifically in the ssh_kdf() function responsible for key derivation. Due to inconsistent interpretation of return values where OpenSSL uses 0 to indicate failure and libssh uses 0 for success—the function may mistakenly return a success status even when key derivation fails. This results in uninitialized cryptographic key buffers being used in subsequent communication, potentially compromising SSH sessions' confidentiality, integrity, and availability. | |||||
| CVE-2025-5351 | 2 Libssh, Redhat | 3 Libssh, Enterprise Linux, Openshift Container Platform | 2026-09-01 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| A flaw was found in the key export functionality of libssh. The issue occurs in the internal function responsible for converting cryptographic keys into serialized formats. During error handling, a memory structure is freed but not cleared, leading to a potential double free issue if an additional failure occurs later in the function. This condition may result in heap corruption or application instability in low-memory scenarios, posing a risk to system reliability where key export operations are performed. | |||||
| CVE-2025-5449 | 1 Libssh | 1 Libssh | 2026-08-31 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| A flaw was found in the SFTP server message decoding logic of libssh. The issue occurs due to an incorrect packet length check that allows an integer overflow when handling large payload sizes on 32-bit systems. This issue leads to failed memory allocation and causes the server process to crash, resulting in a denial of service. | |||||
| CVE-2026-59851 | 2 Libssh, Redhat | 3 Libssh, Enterprise Linux, Hardened Images | 2026-08-17 | N/A | 8.8 HIGH |
| A flaw was found in libssh. On servers with GSSAPIKeyExchange enabled, the gssapi-keyex path does not verify whether the authenticated Kerberos principal is authorized for the requested local user, allowing authenticated clients to log in as arbitrary users. | |||||
| CVE-2026-3731 | 1 Libssh | 1 Libssh | 2026-06-17 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
| A weakness has been identified in libssh up to 0.11.3. The impacted element is the function sftp_extensions_get_name/sftp_extensions_get_data of the file src/sftp.c of the component SFTP Extension Name Handler. Executing a manipulation of the argument idx can lead to out-of-bounds read. The attack may be performed from remote. Upgrading to version 0.11.4 and 0.12.0 is sufficient to resolve this issue. This patch is called 855a0853ad3abd4a6cd85ce06fce6d8d4c7a0b60. You should upgrade the affected component. | |||||
| CVE-2023-6918 | 3 Fedoraproject, Libssh, Redhat | 3 Fedora, Libssh, Enterprise Linux | 2026-06-17 | N/A | 3.7 LOW |
| A flaw was found in the libssh implements abstract layer for message digest (MD) operations implemented by different supported crypto backends. The return values from these were not properly checked, which could cause low-memory situations failures, NULL dereferences, crashes, or usage of the uninitialized memory as an input for the KDF. In this case, non-matching keys will result in decryption/integrity failures, terminating the connection. | |||||
| CVE-2023-6004 | 3 Fedoraproject, Libssh, Redhat | 3 Fedora, Libssh, Enterprise Linux | 2026-06-17 | N/A | 4.8 MEDIUM |
| A flaw was found in libssh. By utilizing the ProxyCommand or ProxyJump feature, users can exploit unchecked hostname syntax on the client. This issue may allow an attacker to inject malicious code into the command of the features mentioned through the hostname parameter. | |||||
| CVE-2023-3603 | 1 Libssh | 1 Libssh | 2026-06-17 | N/A | 3.1 LOW |
| A missing allocation check in sftp server processing read requests may cause a NULL dereference on low-memory conditions. The malicious client can request up to 4GB SFTP reads, causing allocation of up to 4GB buffers, which was not being checked for failure. This will likely crash the authenticated user's sftp server connection (if implemented as forking as recommended). For thread-based servers, this might also cause DoS for legitimate users. Given this code is not in any released versions, no security releases have been issued. | |||||
| CVE-2023-2283 | 3 Fedoraproject, Libssh, Redhat | 3 Fedora, Libssh, Enterprise Linux | 2026-06-17 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| A vulnerability was found in libssh, where the authentication check of the connecting client can be bypassed in the`pki_verify_data_signature` function in memory allocation problems. This issue may happen if there is insufficient memory or the memory usage is limited. The problem is caused by the return value `rc,` which is initialized to SSH_ERROR and later rewritten to save the return value of the function call `pki_key_check_hash_compatible.` The value of the variable is not changed between this point and the cryptographic verification. Therefore any error between them calls `goto error` returning SSH_OK. | |||||
| CVE-2023-1667 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Libssh and 1 more | 4 Debian Linux, Fedora, Libssh and 1 more | 2026-06-17 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| A NULL pointer dereference was found In libssh during re-keying with algorithm guessing. This issue may allow an authenticated client to cause a denial of service. | |||||
| CVE-2021-3634 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Libssh and 3 more | 7 Debian Linux, Fedora, Libssh and 4 more | 2026-06-17 | 4.0 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| A flaw has been found in libssh in versions prior to 0.9.6. The SSH protocol keeps track of two shared secrets during the lifetime of the session. One of them is called secret_hash and the other session_id. Initially, both of them are the same, but after key re-exchange, previous session_id is kept and used as an input to new secret_hash. Historically, both of these buffers had shared length variable, which worked as long as these buffers were same. But the key re-exchange operation can also change the key exchange method, which can be based on hash of different size, eventually creating "secret_hash" of different size than the session_id has. This becomes an issue when the session_id memory is zeroed or when it is used again during second key re-exchange. | |||||
| CVE-2020-1730 | 6 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Libssh and 3 more | 6 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Libssh and 3 more | 2026-06-17 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
| A flaw was found in libssh versions before 0.8.9 and before 0.9.4 in the way it handled AES-CTR (or DES ciphers if enabled) ciphers. The server or client could crash when the connection hasn't been fully initialized and the system tries to cleanup the ciphers when closing the connection. The biggest threat from this vulnerability is system availability. | |||||
| CVE-2020-16135 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 5 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 2 more | 2026-06-17 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
| libssh 0.9.4 has a NULL pointer dereference in tftpserver.c if ssh_buffer_new returns NULL. | |||||
| CVE-2019-14889 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 6 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 3 more | 2026-06-17 | 9.3 HIGH | 8.8 HIGH |
| A flaw was found with the libssh API function ssh_scp_new() in versions before 0.9.3 and before 0.8.8. When the libssh SCP client connects to a server, the scp command, which includes a user-provided path, is executed on the server-side. In case the library is used in a way where users can influence the third parameter of the function, it would become possible for an attacker to inject arbitrary commands, leading to a compromise of the remote target. | |||||
| CVE-2018-10933 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Libssh and 3 more | 9 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Libssh and 6 more | 2026-06-17 | 6.4 MEDIUM | 9.1 CRITICAL |
| A vulnerability was found in libssh's server-side state machine before versions 0.7.6 and 0.8.4. A malicious client could create channels without first performing authentication, resulting in unauthorized access. | |||||
| CVE-2016-0739 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 5 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 2 more | 2026-06-17 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
| libssh before 0.7.3 improperly truncates ephemeral secrets generated for the (1) diffie-hellman-group1 and (2) diffie-hellman-group14 key exchange methods to 128 bits, which makes it easier for man-in-the-middle attackers to decrypt or intercept SSH sessions via unspecified vectors, aka a "bits/bytes confusion bug." | |||||
| CVE-2015-3146 | 4 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 1 more | 4 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 1 more | 2026-06-17 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| The (1) SSH_MSG_NEWKEYS and (2) SSH_MSG_KEXDH_REPLY packet handlers in package_cb.c in libssh before 0.6.5 do not properly validate state, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and crash) via a crafted SSH packet. | |||||
| CVE-2014-8132 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 5 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 2 more | 2026-06-17 | 5.0 MEDIUM | N/A |
| Double free vulnerability in the ssh_packet_kexinit function in kex.c in libssh 0.5.x and 0.6.x before 0.6.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted kexinit packet. | |||||
| CVE-2014-0017 | 1 Libssh | 1 Libssh | 2026-06-17 | 1.9 LOW | N/A |
| The RAND_bytes function in libssh before 0.6.3, when forking is enabled, does not properly reset the state of the OpenSSL pseudo-random number generator (PRNG), which causes the state to be shared between children processes and allows local users to obtain sensitive information by leveraging a pid collision. | |||||
| CVE-2013-0176 | 1 Libssh | 1 Libssh | 2026-06-16 | 4.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
| The publickey_from_privatekey function in libssh before 0.5.4, when no algorithm is matched during negotiations, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and crash) via a "Client: Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange Init" packet. | |||||
