CVE-2026-12958 2026-06-23 N/A 7.8 HIGH
Missing symlink validation in Language Servers for AWS may allow an arbitrary file write outside of the workspace trust boundary. This may occur when a local user opens a workspace with a maliciously crafted symlink that resolves to a file path outside the workspace trust boundary. To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 1.69.0 or higher.
CVE-2026-49248 2026-06-23 N/A N/A
OneDev is a Git server with CI/CD, kanban, and packages. In versions 15.0.6 and below, TarUtils.untar() creates symbolic links verbatim from TAR entry getLinkName() without validating whether the target is an absolute path. A subsequent file entry in the same archive traverses the symlink, writing to arbitrary server-side locations. This is exploitable by any authenticated user with CI Job write access — no admin interaction required. This is an incomplete fix bypass of CVE-2021-21251 (GHSA-2w6j-wc8c-9mq2): that patch blocked .. path segments but did not address absolute symlink targets. This issue has been fixed in version 15.0.7.
CVE-2026-8784 2026-06-17 4.0 MEDIUM 4.2 MEDIUM
A vulnerability was detected in npitre cramfs-tools up to 2.2. Affected is the function change_file_status of the file cramfsck.c. Performing a manipulation results in symlink following. The attack requires a local approach. The exploit is now public and may be used. The patch is named b4a3a695c9873f824907bd15659f2a6ac7667b4f. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue.
CVE-2026-7832 2026-06-17 6.0 MEDIUM 7.0 HIGH
A security flaw has been discovered in IObit Advanced SystemCare 19. This affects an unknown part of the file ASC.exe of the component Service. The manipulation results in symlink following. Attacking locally is a requirement. This attack is characterized by high complexity. It is indicated that the exploitability is difficult. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks.
CVE-2026-7819 1 Pgadmin 1 Pgadmin 4 2026-06-17 N/A 8.1 HIGH
Symbolic-link path traversal (CWE-61, CWE-22) in pgAdmin 4 File Manager. check_access_permission used os.path.abspath, which resolves '..' but does not resolve symbolic links, while the subsequent kernel write follows symlinks. An authenticated user could plant a symbolic link inside their own storage directory pointing outside it and induce pgAdmin to write to any path reachable by the pgAdmin process. Fix switches the access check to os.path.realpath for both source and destination, and adds an _open_upload_target helper that opens the target with O_NOFOLLOW (mode 0o600) to close the leaf-component TOCTOU between the access check and the open. File mode is hardened from 0o644 to 0o600. This issue affects pgAdmin 4: before 9.15.
CVE-2026-7397 2026-06-17 3.2 LOW 4.4 MEDIUM
A security flaw has been discovered in NousResearch hermes-agent 0.8.0. This affects the function _check_sensitive_path of the file tools/file_tools.py. The manipulation results in symlink following. Attacking locally is a requirement. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks. Upgrading to version 0.9.0 is able to mitigate this issue. The patch is identified as 311dac197145e19e07df68feba2cd55d896a3cd1. Upgrading the affected component is recommended.
CVE-2026-6475 1 Postgresql 1 Postgresql 2026-06-17 N/A 8.8 HIGH
Symlink following in PostgreSQL pg_basebackup plain format and in pg_rewind allows an origin superuser to overwrite local files, e.g. /var/lib/postgres/.bashrc, that hijack the operating system account. It will remain the case that starting the server after these commands implicitly trusts the origin superuser, due to features like shared_preload_libraries. Hence, the attack has practical implications only if one takes relevant action between these commands and server start, like moving the files to a different VM or snapshotting the VM. Versions before PostgreSQL 18.4, 17.10, 16.14, 15.18, and 14.23 are affected.
CVE-2026-43570 1 Openclaw 1 Openclaw 2026-06-17 N/A 6.5 MEDIUM
OpenClaw versions 2026.3.22 before 2026.4.5 contain a symlink traversal vulnerability in remote marketplace repository path handling that allows attackers to escape the expected repository root. Attackers can exploit this by providing crafted symlink paths to access files outside the intended repository directory.
CVE-2026-42306 2 Docker, Mobyproject 3 Engine, Moby, Moby\/v2 2026-06-17 N/A 7.2 HIGH
Moby is an open source container framework. In Docker Engine prior to version 29.5.1, Docker Daemon versions 28.5.2 and prior, and Moby Daemon prior to version 2.0.0-beta.14, a race condition during docker cp mount setup allows a malicious container to redirect a bind mount target to an arbitrary host path, potentially overwriting host files or causing denial of service. This issue has been patched in Docker Engine version 29.5.1 and Moby Daemon version 2.0.0-beta.14.
CVE-2026-42275 1 Netfoundry 1 Zrok 2026-06-17 N/A 8.7 HIGH
zrok is software for sharing web services, files, and network resources. Prior to version 2.0.2, the zrok WebDAV drive backend (davServer.Dir) restricts path traversal through lexical normalization but does not prevent symlink following. When a symbolic link inside the shared DriveRoot points to a location outside that root, remote WebDAV consumers can read files and—on shares without OS-level permission restrictions—write or overwrite files anywhere on the host filesystem accessible to the zrok process. This issue has been patched in version 2.0.2.
CVE-2026-40354 1 Flatpak 1 Xdg-desktop-portal 2026-06-17 N/A 2.9 LOW
Flatpak xdg-desktop-portal before 1.20.4 and 1.21.x before 1.21.1 allows any Flatpak app to trash any file in the host context via a symlink attack on g_file_trash.
CVE-2026-39861 1 Anthropic 1 Claude Code 2026-06-17 N/A 10.0 CRITICAL
Claude Code is an agentic coding tool. Prior to version 2.1.64, Claude Code's sandbox did not prevent sandboxed processes from creating symlinks pointing to locations outside the workspace. When Claude Code subsequently wrote to a path within such a symlink, its unsandboxed process followed the symlink and wrote to the target location outside the workspace without prompting the user for confirmation. This allowed a sandbox escape where neither the sandboxed command nor the unsandboxed app could independently write outside the workspace, but their combination could write to arbitrary locations, potentially leading to code execution outside the sandbox. Reliably exploiting this required the ability to add untrusted content into a Claude Code context window to trigger sandboxed code execution via prompt injection. Users on standard Claude Code auto-update have received this fix automatically. Users performing manual updates are advised to update to version 2.1.64 or later.
CVE-2026-35632 1 Openclaw 1 Openclaw 2026-06-17 N/A 7.1 HIGH
OpenClaw through 2026.2.22 contains a symlink traversal vulnerability in agents.create and agents.update handlers that use fs.appendFile on IDENTITY.md without symlink containment checks. Attackers with workspace access can plant symlinks to append attacker-controlled content to arbitrary files, enabling remote code execution via crontab injection or unauthorized access via SSH key manipulation.
CVE-2026-35372 1 Uutils 1 Coreutils 2026-06-17 N/A 5.0 MEDIUM
A logic error in the ln utility of uutils coreutils allows the utility to dereference a symbolic link target even when the --no-dereference (or -n) flag is explicitly provided. The implementation previously only honored the "no-dereference" intent if the --force (overwrite) mode was also enabled. This flaw causes ln to follow a symbolic link that points to a directory and create new links inside that target directory instead of treating the symbolic link itself as the destination. In environments where a privileged user or system script uses ln -n to update a symlink, a local attacker could manipulate existing symbolic links to redirect file creation into sensitive directories, potentially leading to unauthorized file creation or system misconfiguration.
CVE-2026-34447 1 Linuxfoundation 1 Onnx 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) is an open standard for machine learning interoperability. Prior to version 1.21.0, there is a symlink traversal vulnerability in external data loading allows reading files outside the model directory. This issue has been patched in version 1.21.0.
CVE-2026-34446 1 Linuxfoundation 1 Onnx 2026-06-17 N/A 4.7 MEDIUM
Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) is an open standard for machine learning interoperability. Prior to version 1.21.0, there is an issue in onnx.load, the code checks for symlinks to prevent path traversal, but completely misses hardlinks because a hardlink looks exactly like a regular file on the filesystem. This issue has been patched in version 1.21.0.
CVE-2026-33711 1 Linuxcontainers 1 Incus 2026-06-17 N/A 7.8 HIGH
Incus is a system container and virtual machine manager. Incus provides an API to retrieve VM screenshots. That API relies on the use of a temporary file for QEMU to write the screenshot to which is then picked up and sent to the user prior to deletion. As versions prior to 6.23.0 use predictable paths under /tmp for this, an attacker with local access to the system can abuse this mechanism by creating their own symlinks ahead of time. On the vast majority of Linux systems, this will result in a "Permission denied" error when requesting a screenshot. That's because the Linux kernel has a security feature designed to block such attacks, `protected_symlinks`. On the rare systems with this purposefully disabled, it's then possible to trick Incus intro truncating and altering the mode and permissions of arbitrary files on the filesystem, leading to a potential denial of service or possible local privilege escalation. Version 6.23.0 fixes the issue.
CVE-2026-33056 1 Tar Project 1 Tar 2026-06-17 N/A 6.5 MEDIUM
tar-rs is a tar archive reading/writing library for Rust. In versions 0.4.44 and below, when unpacking a tar archive, the tar crate's unpack_dir function uses fs::metadata() to check whether a path that already exists is a directory. Because fs::metadata() follows symbolic links, a crafted tarball containing a symlink entry followed by a directory entry with the same name causes the crate to treat the symlink target as a valid existing directory — and subsequently apply chmod to it. This allows an attacker to modify the permissions of arbitrary directories outside the extraction root. This issue has been fixed in version 0.4.45.
CVE-2026-29203 2026-06-17 N/A 8.8 HIGH
A chmod call in the cPanel Nova plugin's Cpanel::Nova::Connector follows symlinks, allowing setting root permissions on arbitrary system files or directories. That can cause DoS or local privilege escalation when an authenticated cPanel user places a symlink at a user-controlled legacy Nova path under their home directory.
CVE-2026-28684 1 Saurabh-kumar 1 Python-dotenv 2026-06-17 N/A 6.6 MEDIUM
python-dotenv reads key-value pairs from a .env file and can set them as environment variables. Prior to version 1.2.2, `set_key()` and `unset_key()` in python-dotenv follow symbolic links when rewriting `.env` files, allowing a local attacker to overwrite arbitrary files via a crafted symlink when a cross-device rename fallback is triggered. Users should upgrade to v.1.2.2 or, as a workaround, apply the patch manually.
