CVE-2024-36973 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 8.4 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: microchip: pci1xxxx: fix double free in the error handling of gp_aux_bus_probe() When auxiliary_device_add() returns error and then calls auxiliary_device_uninit(), callback function gp_auxiliary_device_release() calls ida_free() and kfree(aux_device_wrapper) to free memory. We should't call them again in the error handling path. Fix this by skipping the redundant cleanup functions.
CVE-2024-35856 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 8.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btusb: mediatek: Fix double free of skb in coredump hci_devcd_append() would free the skb on error so the caller don't have to free it again otherwise it would cause the double free of skb. Reported-by : Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@linaro.org>
CVE-2024-35847 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/gic-v3-its: Prevent double free on error The error handling path in its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc() causes a double free when its_vpe_init() fails after successfully allocating at least one interrupt. This happens because its_vpe_irq_domain_free() frees the interrupts along with the area bitmap and the vprop_page and its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc() subsequently frees the area bitmap and the vprop_page again. Fix this by unconditionally invoking its_vpe_irq_domain_free() which handles all cases correctly and by removing the bitmap/vprop_page freeing from its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc(). CVE-2024-35835 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5e: fix a double-free in arfs_create_groups When `in` allocated by kvzalloc fails, arfs_create_groups will free ft->g and return an error. However, arfs_create_table, the only caller of arfs_create_groups, will hold this error and call to mlx5e_destroy_flow_table, in which the ft->g will be freed again.
CVE-2024-35814 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: swiotlb: Fix double-allocation of slots due to broken alignment handling Commit bbb73a103fbb ("swiotlb: fix a braino in the alignment check fix"), which was a fix for commit 0eee5ae10256 ("swiotlb: fix slot alignment checks"), causes a functional regression with vsock in a virtual machine using bouncing via a restricted DMA SWIOTLB pool. When virtio allocates the virtqueues for the vsock device using dma_alloc_coherent(), the SWIOTLB search can return page-unaligned allocations if 'area->index' was left unaligned by a previous allocation from the buffer: # Final address in brackets is the SWIOTLB address returned to the caller | virtio-pci 0000:00:07.0: orig_addr 0x0 alloc_size 0x2000, iotlb_align_mask 0x800 stride 0x2: got slot 1645-1649/7168 (0x98326800) | virtio-pci 0000:00:07.0: orig_addr 0x0 alloc_size 0x2000, iotlb_align_mask 0x800 stride 0x2: got slot 1649-1653/7168 (0x98328800) | virtio-pci 0000:00:07.0: orig_addr 0x0 alloc_size 0x2000, iotlb_align_mask 0x800 stride 0x2: got slot 1653-1657/7168 (0x9832a800) This ends badly (typically buffer corruption and/or a hang) because swiotlb_alloc() is expecting a page-aligned allocation and so blindly returns a pointer to the 'struct page' corresponding to the allocation, therefore double-allocating the first half (2KiB slot) of the 4KiB page. Fix the problem by treating the allocation alignment separately to any additional alignment requirements from the device, using the maximum of the two as the stride to search the buffer slots and taking care to ensure a minimum of page-alignment for buffers larger than a page. This also resolves swiotlb allocation failures occuring due to the inclusion of ~PAGE_MASK in 'iotlb_align_mask' for large allocations and resulting in alignment requirements exceeding swiotlb_max_mapping_size().
CVE-2024-27392 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme: host: fix double-free of struct nvme_id_ns in ns_update_nuse() When nvme_identify_ns() fails, it frees the pointer to the struct nvme_id_ns before it returns. However, ns_update_nuse() calls kfree() for the pointer even when nvme_identify_ns() fails. This results in KASAN double-free, which was observed with blktests nvme/045 with proposed patches [1] on the kernel v6.8-rc7. Fix the double-free by skipping kfree() when nvme_identify_ns() fails.
CVE-2024-27389 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pstore: inode: Only d_invalidate() is needed Unloading a modular pstore backend with records in pstorefs would trigger the dput() double-drop warning: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 2569 at fs/dcache.c:762 dput.part.0+0x3f3/0x410 Using the combo of d_drop()/dput() (as mentioned in Documentation/filesystems/vfs.rst) isn't the right approach here, and leads to the reference counting problem seen above. Use d_invalidate() and update the code to not bother checking for error codes that can never happen. ---
CVE-2024-26930 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.0 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: Fix double free of the ha->vp_map pointer Coverity scan reported potential risk of double free of the pointer ha->vp_map. ha->vp_map was freed in qla2x00_mem_alloc(), and again freed in function qla2x00_mem_free(ha). Assign NULL to vp_map and kfree take care of NULL.
CVE-2024-26792 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix double free of anonymous device after snapshot creation failure When creating a snapshot we may do a double free of an anonymous device in case there's an error committing the transaction. The second free may result in freeing an anonymous device number that was allocated by some other subsystem in the kernel or another btrfs filesystem. The steps that lead to this: 1) At ioctl.c:create_snapshot() we allocate an anonymous device number and assign it to pending_snapshot->anon_dev; 2) Then we call btrfs_commit_transaction() and end up at transaction.c:create_pending_snapshot(); 3) There we call btrfs_get_new_fs_root() and pass it the anonymous device number stored in pending_snapshot->anon_dev; 4) btrfs_get_new_fs_root() frees that anonymous device number because btrfs_lookup_fs_root() returned a root - someone else did a lookup of the new root already, which could some task doing backref walking; 5) After that some error happens in the transaction commit path, and at ioctl.c:create_snapshot() we jump to the 'fail' label, and after that we free again the same anonymous device number, which in the meanwhile may have been reallocated somewhere else, because pending_snapshot->anon_dev still has the same value as in step 1. Recently syzbot ran into this and reported the following trace: ------------[ cut here ]------------ ida_free called for id=51 which is not allocated. CVE-2024-26704 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix double-free of blocks due to wrong extents moved_len In ext4_move_extents(), moved_len is only updated when all moves are successfully executed, and only discards orig_inode and donor_inode preallocations when moved_len is not zero. When the loop fails to exit after successfully moving some extents, moved_len is not updated and remains at 0, so it does not discard the preallocations. If the moved extents overlap with the preallocated extents, the overlapped extents are freed twice in ext4_mb_release_inode_pa() and ext4_process_freed_data() (as described in commit 94d7c16cbbbd ("ext4: Fix double-free of blocks with EXT4_IOC_MOVE_EXT")), and bb_free is incremented twice. Hence when trim is executed, a zero-division bug is triggered in mb_update_avg_fragment_size() because bb_free is not zero and bb_fragments is zero. Therefore, update move_len after each extent move to avoid the issue.

CVE-2023-53586 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 8.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: target: Fix multiple LUN_RESET handling This fixes a bug where an initiator thinks a LUN_RESET has cleaned up running commands when it hasn't. The bug was added in commit 51ec502a3266 ("target: Delete tmr from list before processing"). The problem occurs when: 1. We have N I/O cmds running in the target layer spread over 2 sessions. 2. The initiator sends a LUN_RESET for each session. 3. session1's LUN_RESET loops over all the running commands from both sessions and moves them to its local drain_task_list. 4. session2's LUN_RESET does not see the LUN_RESET from session1 because the commit above has it remove itself. session2 also does not see any commands since the other reset moved them off the state lists. 5. sessions2's LUN_RESET will then complete with a successful response. 6. sessions2's inititor believes the running commands on its session are now cleaned up due to the successful response and cleans up the running commands from its side. It then restarts them. 7. The commands do eventually complete on the backend and the target starts to return aborted task statuses for them. The initiator will either throw a invalid ITT error or might accidentally lookup a new task if the ITT has been reallocated already. Fix the bug by reverting the patch, and serialize the execution of LUN_RESETs and Preempt and Aborts. Also prevent us from waiting on LUN_RESETs in core_tmr_drain_tmr_list, because it turns out the original patch fixed a bug that was not mentioned. For LUN_RESET1 core_tmr_drain_tmr_list can see a second LUN_RESET and wait on it. Then the second reset will run core_tmr_drain_tmr_list and see the first reset and wait on it resulting in a deadlock.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ufs: core: Fix handling of lrbp->cmd ufshcd_queuecommand() may be called two times in a row for a SCSI command before it is completed. Hence make the following changes: - In the functions that submit a command, do not check the old value of lrbp->cmd nor clear lrbp->cmd in error paths. - In ufshcd_release_scsi_cmd(), do not clear lrbp->cmd. See also scsi_send_eh_cmnd(). This commit prevents that the following appears if a command times out: WARNING: at drivers/ufs/core/ufshcd.c:2965 ufshcd_queuecommand+0x6f8/0x9a8 Call trace: ufshcd_queuecommand+0x6f8/0x9a8 scsi_send_eh_cmnd+0x2c0/0x960 scsi_eh_test_devices+0x100/0x314 scsi_eh_ready_devs+0xd90/0x114c scsi_error_handler+0x2b4/0xb70 kthread+0x16c/0x1e0
CVE-2023-53360 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 9.8 CRITICAL
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4.2: Rework scratch handling for READ_PLUS (again) I found that the read code might send multiple requests using the same nfs_pgio_header, but nfs4_proc_read_setup() is only called once. This is how we ended up occasionally double-freeing the scratch buffer, but also means we set a NULL pointer but non-zero length to the xdr scratch buffer. This results in an oops the first time decoding needs to copy something to scratch, which frequently happens when decoding READ_PLUS hole segments. I fix this by moving scratch handling into the pageio read code. I provide a function to allocate scratch space for decoding read replies, and free the scratch buffer when the nfs_pgio_header is freed.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Fix page corruption caused by racy check in __free_pages When we upgraded our kernel, we started seeing some page corruption like the following consistently: BUG: Bad page state in process ganesha.nfsd pfn:1304ca page:0000000022261c55 refcount:0 mapcount:-128 mapping:0000000000000000 index:0x0 pfn:0x1304ca flags: 0x17ffffc0000000() raw: 0017ffffc0000000 ffff8a513ffd4c98 ffffeee24b35ec08 0000000000000000 raw: 0000000000000000 0000000000000001 00000000ffffff7f 0000000000000000 page dumped because: nonzero mapcount CPU: 0 PID: 15567 Comm: ganesha.nfsd Kdump: loaded Tainted: P B O 5.10.158-1.nutanix.20221209.el7.x86_64 #1 Hardware name: VMware, Inc. Sometimes, it would also show up as corruption in the free list pointer and cause crashes. After bisecting the issue, we found the issue started from commit e320d3012d25 ("mm/page_alloc.c: fix freeing non-compound pages"): if (put_page_testzero(page)) free_the_page(page, order); else if (!PageHead(page)) while (order-- > 0) free_the_page(page + (1 << order), order); So the problem is the check PageHead is racy because at this point we already dropped our reference to the page. So even if we came in with compound page, the page can already be freed and PageHead can return false and we will end up freeing all the tail pages causing double free.
CVE-2023-52691 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm: fix a double-free in si_dpm_init When the allocation of adev->pm.dpm.dyn_state.vddc_dependency_on_dispclk.entries fails, amdgpu_free_extended_power_table is called to free some fields of adev. However, when the control flow returns to si_dpm_sw_init, it goes to label dpm_failed and calls si_dpm_fini, which calls amdgpu_free_extended_power_table again and free those fields again. Thus a double-free is triggered.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: fix the error handler of rfkill config When the core rfkill config throws error, it should free the allocated resources. Currently it is not freeing the core pdev create resources. Avoid this issue by calling the core pdev destroy in the error handler of core rfkill config. Found this issue in the code review and it is compile tested only.
CVE-2023-52679 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of: Fix double free in of_parse_phandle_with_args_map In of_parse_phandle_with_args_map() the inner loop that iterates through the map entries calls of_node_put(new) to free the reference acquired by the previous iteration of the inner loop. This assumes that the value of "new" is NULL on the first iteration of the inner loop. Make sure that this is true in all iterations of the outer loop by setting "new" to NULL after its value is assigned to "cur". Extend the unittest to detect the double free and add an additional test case that actually triggers this path.
