| CVE-2026-31518 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-07-14 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: esp: fix skb leak with espintcp and async crypto When the TX queue for espintcp is full, esp_output_tail_tcp will return an error and not free the skb, because with synchronous crypto, the common xfrm output code will drop the packet for us. With async crypto (esp_output_done), we need to drop the skb when esp_output_tail_tcp returns an error. | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: idxd: Fix memory leak when a wq is reset idxd_wq_disable_cleanup() which is called from the reset path for a workqueue, sets the wq type to NONE, which for other parts of the driver mean that the wq is empty (all its resources were released). Only set the wq type to NONE after its resources are released. | |||||
| CVE-2026-23414 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-07-14 | N/A | 7.5 HIGH |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tls: Purge async_hold in tls_decrypt_async_wait() The async_hold queue pins encrypted input skbs while the AEAD engine references their scatterlist data. Once tls_decrypt_async_wait() returns, every AEAD operation has completed and the engine no longer references those skbs, so they can be freed unconditionally. A subsequent patch adds batch async decryption to tls_sw_read_sock(), introducing a new call site that must drain pending AEAD operations and release held skbs. Move __skb_queue_purge(&ctx->async_hold) into tls_decrypt_async_wait() so the purge is centralized and every caller -- recvmsg's drain path, the -EBUSY fallback in tls_do_decryption(), and the new read_sock batch path -- releases held skbs on synchronization without each site managing the purge independently. This fixes a leak when tls_strp_msg_hold() fails part-way through, after having added some cloned skbs to the async_hold queue. tls_decrypt_sg() will then call tls_decrypt_async_wait() to process all pending decrypts, and drop back to synchronous mode, but tls_sw_recvmsg() only flushes the async_hold queue when one record has been processed in "fully-async" mode, which may not be the case here. [pabeni@redhat.com: added leak comment] | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gue: Fix skb memleak with inner IP protocol 0. syzbot reported skb memleak below. [0] The repro generated a GUE packet with its inner protocol 0. gue_udp_recv() returns -guehdr->proto_ctype for "resubmit" in ip_protocol_deliver_rcu(), but this only works with non-zero protocol number. Let's drop such packets. Note that 0 is a valid number (IPv6 Hop-by-Hop Option). | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: qcom: gpi: Fix memory leak in gpi_peripheral_config() Fix a memory leak in gpi_peripheral_config() where the original memory pointed to by gchan->config could be lost if krealloc() fails. The issue occurs when: 1. gchan->config points to previously allocated memory 2. krealloc() fails and returns NULL 3. The function directly assigns NULL to gchan->config, losing the reference to the original memory 4. The original memory becomes unreachable and cannot be freed Fix this by using a temporary variable to hold the krealloc() result and only updating gchan->config when the allocation succeeds. Found via static analysis and code review. | |||||
| CVE-2026-22979 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-07-14 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: fix memory leak in skb_segment_list for GRO packets When skb_segment_list() is called during packet forwarding, it handles packets that were aggregated by the GRO engine. Historically, the segmentation logic in skb_segment_list assumes that individual segments are split from a parent SKB and may need to carry their own socket memory accounting. Accordingly, the code transfers truesize from the parent to the newly created segments. Prior to commit ed4cccef64c1 ("gro: fix ownership transfer"), this truesize subtraction in skb_segment_list() was valid because fragments still carry a reference to the original socket. However, commit ed4cccef64c1 ("gro: fix ownership transfer") changed this behavior by ensuring that fraglist entries are explicitly orphaned (skb->sk = NULL) to prevent illegal orphaning later in the stack. This change meant that the entire socket memory charge remained with the head SKB, but the corresponding accounting logic in skb_segment_list() was never updated. As a result, the current code unconditionally adds each fragment's truesize to delta_truesize and subtracts it from the parent SKB. Since the fragments are no longer charged to the socket, this subtraction results in an effective under-count of memory when the head is freed. This causes sk_wmem_alloc to remain non-zero, preventing socket destruction and leading to a persistent memory leak. The leak can be observed via KMEMLEAK when tearing down the networking environment: unreferenced object 0xffff8881e6eb9100 (size 2048): comm "ping", pid 6720, jiffies 4295492526 backtrace: kmem_cache_alloc_noprof+0x5c6/0x800 sk_prot_alloc+0x5b/0x220 sk_alloc+0x35/0xa00 inet6_create.part.0+0x303/0x10d0 __sock_create+0x248/0x640 __sys_socket+0x11b/0x1d0 Since skb_segment_list() is exclusively used for SKB_GSO_FRAGLIST packets constructed by GRO, the truesize adjustment is removed. The call to skb_release_head_state() must be preserved. As documented in commit cf673ed0e057 ("net: fix fraglist segmentation reference count leak"), it is still required to correctly drop references to SKB extensions that may be overwritten during __copy_skb_header(). | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: via_wdt: fix critical boot hang due to unnamed resource allocation The VIA watchdog driver uses allocate_resource() to reserve a MMIO region for the watchdog control register. However, the allocated resource was not given a name, which causes the kernel resource tree to contain an entry marked as "<BAD>" under /proc/iomem on x86 platforms. During boot, this unnamed resource can lead to a critical hang because subsequent resource lookups and conflict checks fail to handle the invalid entry properly. | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/mm/64: define ARCH_PAGE_TABLE_SYNC_MASK and arch_sync_kernel_mappings() Define ARCH_PAGE_TABLE_SYNC_MASK and arch_sync_kernel_mappings() to ensure page tables are properly synchronized when calling p*d_populate_kernel(). For 5-level paging, synchronization is performed via pgd_populate_kernel(). In 4-level paging, pgd_populate() is a no-op, so synchronization is instead performed at the P4D level via p4d_populate_kernel(). | CVE-2025-39756 | 2 Debian, Linux | 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel | 2026-07-14 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: Prevent file descriptor table allocations exceeding INT_MAX When sysctl_nr_open is set to a very high value (for example, 1073741816 as set by systemd), processes attempting to use file descriptors near the limit can trigger massive memory allocation attempts that exceed INT_MAX, resulting in a WARNING in mm/slub.c: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 44 at mm/slub.c:5027 __kvmalloc_node_noprof+0x21a/0x288 This happens because kvmalloc_array() and kvmalloc() check if the requested size exceeds INT_MAX and emit a warning when the allocation is not flagged with __GFP_NOWARN. Specifically, when nr_open is set to 1073741816 (0x3ffffff8) and a process calls dup2(oldfd, 1073741880), the kernel attempts to allocate: - File descriptor array: 1073741880 * 8 bytes = 8,589,935,040 bytes - Multiple bitmaps: ~400MB - Total allocation size: > 8GB (exceeding INT_MAX = 2,147,483,647) Reproducer: 1. Set /proc/sys/fs/nr_open to 1073741816: # echo 1073741816 > /proc/sys/fs/nr_open 2. Run a program that uses a high file descriptor: #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/resource.h> int main() { struct rlimit rlim = {1073741824, 1073741824}; setrlimit(RLIMIT_NOFILE, &rlim); dup2(2, 1073741880); // Triggers the warning return 0; } 3. Observe WARNING in dmesg at mm/slub.c:5027 systemd commit a8b627a introduced automatic bumping of fs.nr_open to the maximum possible value. The rationale was that systems with memory control groups (memcg) no longer need separate file descriptor limits since memory is properly accounted. However, this change overlooked that: 1. The kernel's allocation functions still enforce INT_MAX as a maximum size regardless of memcg accounting 2. Programs and tests that legitimately test file descriptor limits can inadvertently trigger massive allocations 3. The resulting allocations (>8GB) are impractical and will always fail systemd's algorithm starts with INT_MAX and keeps halving the value until the kernel accepts it. On most systems, this results in nr_open being set to 1073741816 (0x3ffffff8), which is just under 1GB of file descriptors. While processes rarely use file descriptors near this limit in normal operation, certain selftests (like tools/testing/selftests/core/unshare_test.c) and programs that test file descriptor limits can trigger this issue. Fix this by adding a check in alloc_fdtable() to ensure the requested allocation size does not exceed INT_MAX. This causes the operation to fail with -EMFILE instead of triggering a kernel warning and avoids the impractical >8GB memory allocation request. | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: Fix memleak of nhc_pcpu_rth_output in fib_check_nh_v6_gw(). fib_check_nh_v6_gw() expects that fib6_nh_init() cleans up everything when it fails. Commit 7dd73168e273 ("ipv6: Always allocate pcpu memory in a fib6_nh") moved fib_nh_common_init() before alloc_percpu_gfp() within fib6_nh_init() but forgot to add cleanup for fib6_nh->nh_common.nhc_pcpu_rth_output in case it fails to allocate fib6_nh->rt6i_pcpu, resulting in memleak. Let's call fib_nh_common_release() and clear nhc_pcpu_rth_output in the error path. Note that we can remove the fib6_nh_release() call in nh_create_ipv6() later in net-next.git. | |||||
