| App::Ack versions through 3.10.0 for Perl print unsanitised terminal escape sequences from filenames in several output modes. When ack prints a filename whose basename contains terminal control bytes such as ANSI escape sequences, those bytes reach the terminal unchanged. Version 3.10.0 added a _safe_filename helper that sanitises the filenames printed by -f, -g, the colored match heading, and per-match lines, but the --show-types, -l/-L, and -c paths still emit the raw filename. A file whose name embeds cursor-movement or color escapes can overwrite or recolor earlier terminal output, or be passed unchanged to a downstream consumer. | |||||

If the names have newlines and statsd control characters (colon, pipe) then metric injections are possible. | `gh` is GitHub’s official command line tool. From 1.6.0 to before 2.92.0, a security vulnerability has been identified in GitHub CLI that could allow terminal escape sequence injection when users view GitHub Actions workflow logs using gh run view --log or gh run view --log-failed. The vulnerability stems from the way GitHub CLI handles raw Actions log output. The gh run view --log and gh run view --log-failed commands stream workflow log lines to stdout or the configured pager without sanitizing terminal control sequences. An attacker who can influence GitHub Actions log content, for example via a PR triggered workflow, can embed escape sequences that are replayed in the user's terminal when they inspect the run. Depending on the victim's terminal emulator, injected sequences could change the window title, manipulate on screen content, or in some terminal emulators (such as screen) potentially execute arbitrary commands. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.92.0. | |||||

| Mailpit is an email testing tool and API for developers. Prior to version 1.28.3, Mailpit's SMTP server is vulnerable to Header Injection due to an insufficient Regular Expression used to validate `RCPT TO` and `MAIL FROM` addresses. An attacker can inject arbitrary SMTP headers (or corrupt existing ones) by including carriage return characters (`\r`) in the email address. This header injection occurs because the regex intended to filter control characters fails to exclude `\r` and `\n` when used inside a character class. Version 1.28.3 fixes this issue. | |||||
