In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: batman-adv: bypass empty buckets in batadv_purge_orig_ref() Many syzbot reports are pointing to soft lockups in batadv_purge_orig_ref() [1] Root cause is unknown, but we can avoid spending too much time there and perhaps get more interesting reports. CVE-2024-40978 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 7.1 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qedi: Fix crash while reading debugfs attribute The qedi_dbg_do_not_recover_cmd_read() function invokes sprintf() directly on a __user pointer, which results into the crash. To fix this issue, use a small local stack buffer for sprintf() and then call simple_read_from_buffer(), which in turns make the copy_to_user() call. CVE-2024-40977 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7921s: fix potential hung tasks during chip recovery During chip recovery (e.g. chip reset), there is a possible situation that kernel worker reset_work is holding the lock and waiting for kernel thread stat_worker to be parked, while stat_worker is waiting for the release of the same lock. It causes a deadlock resulting in the dumping of hung tasks messages and possible rebooting of the device. This patch prevents the execution of stat_worker during the chip recovery.
CVE-2024-40976 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/lima: mask irqs in timeout path before hard reset There is a race condition in which a rendering job might take just long enough to trigger the drm sched job timeout handler but also still complete before the hard reset is done by the timeout handler. This runs into race conditions not expected by the timeout handler. In some very specific cases it currently may result in a refcount imbalance on lima_pm_idle, with a stack dump such as: [10136.669170] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 0 at drivers/gpu/drm/lima/lima_devfreq.c:205 lima_devfreq_record_idle+0xa0/0xb0 ... [10136.669459] pc : lima_devfreq_record_idle+0xa0/0xb0 ... [10136.669628] Call trace: [10136.669634] lima_devfreq_record_idle+0xa0/0xb0 [10136.669646] lima_sched_pipe_task_done+0x5c/0xb0 [10136.669656] lima_gp_irq_handler+0xa8/0x120 [10136.669666] __handle_irq_event_percpu+0x48/0x160 [10136.669679] handle_irq_event+0x4c/0xc0 We can prevent that race condition entirely by masking the irqs at the beginning of the timeout handler, at which point we give up on waiting for that job entirely. The irqs will be enabled again at the next hard reset which is already done as a recovery by the timeout handler.
CVE-2024-40975 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: platform/x86: x86-android-tablets: Unregister devices in reverse order Not all subsystems support a device getting removed while there are still consumers of the device with a reference to the device. One example of this is the regulator subsystem. If a regulator gets unregistered while there are still drivers holding a reference a WARN() at drivers/regulator/core.c:5829 triggers, e.g.: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 1587 at drivers/regulator/core.c:5829 regulator_unregister Hardware name: Intel Corp. VALLEYVIEW C0 PLATFORM/BYT-T FFD8, BIOS BLADE_21.X64.0005.R00.1504101516 FFD8_X64_R_2015_04_10_1516 04/10/2015 RIP: 0010:regulator_unregister Call Trace: <TASK> regulator_unregister devres_release_group i2c_device_remove device_release_driver_internal bus_remove_device device_del device_unregister x86_android_tablet_remove On the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 series the bq24190 charger chip also provides a 5V boost converter output for powering USB devices connected to the micro USB port, the bq24190-charger driver exports this as a Vbus regulator. On the 830 (8") and 1050 ("10") models this regulator is controlled by a platform_device and x86_android_tablet_remove() removes platform_device-s before i2c_clients so the consumer gets removed first. But on the 1380 (13") model there is a lc824206xa micro-USB switch connected over I2C and the extcon driver for that controls the regulator. The bq24190 i2c-client *must* be registered first, because that creates the regulator with the lc824206xa listed as its consumer. If the regulator has not been registered yet the lc824206xa driver will end up getting a dummy regulator. Since in this case both the regulator provider and consumer are I2C devices, the only way to ensure that the consumer is unregistered first is to unregister the I2C devices in reverse order of in which they were created. For consistency and to avoid similar problems in the future change x86_android_tablet_remove() to unregister all device types in reverse order.
CVE-2024-40972 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: do not create EA inode under buffer lock ext4_xattr_set_entry() creates new EA inodes while holding buffer lock on the external xattr block. This is problematic as it nests all the allocation locking (which acquires locks on other buffers) under the buffer lock. This can even deadlock when the filesystem is corrupted and e.g. quota file is setup to contain xattr block as data block. Move the allocation of EA inode out of ext4_xattr_set_entry() into the callers.
CVE-2024-40969 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: don't set RO when shutting down f2fs Shutdown does not check the error of thaw_super due to readonly, which causes a deadlock like below. f2fs_ioc_shutdown(F2FS_GOING_DOWN_FULLSYNC) issue_discard_thread - bdev_freeze - freeze_super - f2fs_stop_checkpoint() - f2fs_handle_critical_error - sb_start_write - set RO - waiting - bdev_thaw - thaw_super_locked - return -EINVAL, if sb_rdonly() - f2fs_stop_discard_thread -> wait for kthread_stop(discard_thread);
CVE-2024-40968 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: MIPS: Octeon: Add PCIe link status check The standard PCIe configuration read-write interface is used to access the configuration space of the peripheral PCIe devices of the mips processor after the PCIe link surprise down, it can generate kernel panic caused by "Data bus error". So it is necessary to add PCIe link status check for system protection. When the PCIe link is down or in training, assigning a value of 0 to the configuration address can prevent read-write behavior to the configuration space of peripheral PCIe devices, thereby preventing kernel panic.
CVE-2024-40967 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: serial: imx: Introduce timeout when waiting on transmitter empty By waiting at most 1 second for USR2_TXDC to be set, we avoid a potential deadlock. In case of the timeout, there is not much we can do, so we simply ignore the transmitter state and optimistically try to continue.
CVE-2024-40966 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: add the option to have a tty reject a new ldisc ... and use it to limit the virtual terminals to just N_TTY. They are kind of special, and in particular, the "con_write()" routine violates the "writes cannot sleep" rule that some ldiscs rely on. This avoids the BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/printk/printk.c:2659 when N_GSM has been attached to a virtual console, and gsmld_write() calls con_write() while holding a spinlock, and con_write() then tries to get the console lock.
CVE-2024-40965 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: lpi2c: Avoid calling clk_get_rate during transfer Instead of repeatedly calling clk_get_rate for each transfer, lock the clock rate and cache the value. A deadlock has been observed while adding tlv320aic32x4 audio codec to the system. When this clock provider adds its clock, the clk mutex is locked already, it needs to access i2c, which in return needs the mutex for clk_get_rate as well.
CVE-2024-40964 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: hda: cs35l41: Possible null pointer dereference in cs35l41_hda_unbind() The cs35l41_hda_unbind() function clears the hda_component entry matching it's index and then dereferences the codec pointer held in the first element of the hda_component array, this is an issue when the device index was 0. Instead use the codec pointer stashed in the cs35l41_hda structure as it will still be valid.
CVE-2024-40963 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mips: bmips: BCM6358: make sure CBR is correctly set It was discovered that some device have CBR address set to 0 causing kernel panic when arch_sync_dma_for_cpu_all is called. This was notice in situation where the system is booted from TP1 and BMIPS_GET_CBR() returns 0 instead of a valid address and !!(read_c0_brcm_cmt_local() & (1 << 31)); not failing. The current check whether RAC flush should be disabled or not are not enough hence lets check if CBR is a valid address or not.

Further analysis with drgn confirmed the assumption: >>> inode = prog.crashed_thread().stack_trace()[11]['ordered'].inode >>> btrfs_inode = drgn.container_of(inode, "struct btrfs_inode", \ "vfs_inode") >>> print(btrfs_inode.flags) (u32)1 As zoned emulation mode simulates conventional zones on regular devices, we cannot use zone-append for writing. But we're only attaching dummy checksums if we're doing a zone-append write. So for NOCOW zoned data writes on conventional zones, also attach a dummy checksum.

CVE-2024-40951 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-06-17 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix NULL pointer dereference in ocfs2_abort_trigger() bdev->bd_super has been removed and commit 8887b94d9322 change the usage from bdev->bd_super to b_assoc_map->host->i_sb. Since ocfs2 hasn't set bh->b_assoc_map, it will trigger NULL pointer dereference when calling into ocfs2_abort_trigger(). Actually this was pointed out in history, see commit 74e364ad1b13. But I've made a mistake when reviewing commit 8887b94d9322 and then re-introduce this regression. Since we cannot revive bdev in buffer head, so fix this issue by initializing all types of ocfs2 triggers when fill super, and then get the specific ocfs2 trigger from ocfs2_caching_info when access journal.
