| CVE-2026-42795 | 2026-10-06 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Symlink following vulnerability in Gleam's Hex package export allows files outside the project root to be embedded in the generated package tarball. The file collection helpers (gleam_files, native_files, private_files) in compiler-cli/src/fs.rs use follow_links(true) when walking publishable directories such as src/ and priv/. The collected paths are added to the package archive via add_path_to_tar in compiler-cli/src/publish.rs without verifying that the resolved target remains within the project root. A symlink placed under a publishable directory will cause gleam export hex-tarball or gleam publish to embed the contents of the symlink target into the generated Hex package. An attacker with write access to the project repository can place a symlink in src/ or priv/ pointing to an arbitrary file. When a maintainer or CI pipeline runs gleam publish or gleam export hex-tarball, local files readable by the publisher (such as secrets, tokens, or SSH keys) are silently embedded into the published package artifact. This issue affects Gleam from 0.10.0-rc1 until 1.17.0. | |||||
| CVE-2026-40610 | 1 Bentoml | 1 Bentoml | 2026-10-06 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| BentoML is a Python library for building online serving systems optimized for AI apps and model inference. In versions 1.4.38 and prior, the build packaging workflow follows attacker-controlled symlinks inside the build context and copies the referenced file contents into the generated Bento artifact. If a victim builds an untrusted repository or other attacker-supplied build context, the attacker can place a symlink such as loot.txt -> /tmp/outside-marker.txt or a link to a more sensitive local file. When bentoml build runs, BentoML dereferences the symlink and packages the target file contents into the Bento. The leaked file can then propagate further through export, push, or containerization workflows. An attacker can exfiltrate local files from the build host into the Bento artifact, exposing secrets such as cloud credentials, SSH keys, API tokens, environment files, or other sensitive local configurations. Because Bento artifacts are commonly exported, uploaded, stored, or containerized after build, the leaked file contents can spread beyond the original build machine. This issue has been fixed in version 1.4.39. | |||||
| CVE-2021-47949 | 2026-10-06 | N/A | 8.8 HIGH | ||
| CyberPanel 2.1 contains a command execution vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers to read arbitrary files and execute remote code by exploiting symlink attacks through the filemanager controller endpoint. Attackers can manipulate the completeStartingPath parameter in POST requests to /filemanager/controller to create symbolic links, read sensitive files like database credentials, and execute arbitrary shell commands through the /websites/fetchFolderDetails endpoint. | |||||
| CVE-2026-79655 | 2026-10-06 | N/A | 7.8 HIGH | ||
| A flaw was found in sos clean, a utility within the sos package. This vulnerability allows a local attacker to perform arbitrary file creation or overwrite. By crafting a malicious tar archive, an attacker can exploit a path traversal issue during tar extraction, where symlink and hardlink targets are not properly validated. This enables the attacker to write files to arbitrary locations on the system with the privileges of the sos clean process, which often runs as root. | |||||
| CVE-2026-63622 | 2026-10-05 | N/A | 7.8 HIGH | ||
| A flaw was found in libvirt. A local attacker, specifically a process running as the confined `swtpm` user, could exploit a symlink-following vulnerability in the `virFileChownFiles()` function. By planting a symbolic link within the `swtpm` state directory, the attacker could trick the root-level libvirt daemon into changing the ownership of an arbitrary file to the `swtpm` user. This allows for privilege escalation from the `swtpm` sandbox to root-level file ownership control. | |||||
| CVE-2026-94620 | 2026-10-02 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Classroom 50 is a free and open-source tool for managing and grading programming assignments via GitHub. Prior to version 1.11.0, `gh teacher download` clones each student's assignment repository and then writes autograde artifacts (`result.json` and `results.json`) into the just-cloned working tree. The write followed symlinks, so a student who committed `result.json` or `results.json` as a **symlink** (materialized verbatim by `git clone`) could redirect the teacher's write to an arbitrary path — e.g. `~/.zshrc`, `~/.ssh/authorized_keys`, a cron file, or an in-clone `.git/hooks/*` file that git subsequently executes. The written bytes are attacker-controlled (the student's uploaded release asset for `result.json`; student-chosen submit-tag names for `results.json`). This is an arbitrary file write leading to code execution as the teacher, whose `gh` token carries `admin:org`, `repo`, and `workflow` across the entire classroom organization. Version 1.11.0 contains a patch. Some workarounds are available. Avoid running `gh teacher download` against untrusted student repositories, or run it inside a disposable sandbox / container with no access to sensitive host files or credentials. Inspect cloned trees for symlinked, hardlinked, or special (`result.json`/`results.json`) entries before allowing the artifact-refresh step to run. | |||||
| CVE-2026-79699 | 2026-10-02 | N/A | 4.4 MEDIUM | ||
| A flaw was found in the containers/storage library. A crafted tar archive containing a malicious whiteout header (e.g. victim/.wh.) can cause the extraction destination directory to be replaced with an arbitrary file when processed by storage/pkg/archive.UnpackLayer, ApplyLayer, or ApplyUncompressedLayer. | |||||
| CVE-2022-30333 | 4 Debian, Linux, Opengroup and 1 more | 4 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, Unix and 1 more | 2026-10-02 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| RARLAB UnRAR before 6.12 on Linux and UNIX allows directory traversal to write to files during an extract (aka unpack) operation, as demonstrated by creating a ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file. NOTE: WinRAR and Android RAR are unaffected. | |||||
| CVE-2026-88265 | 2026-10-02 | N/A | 5.6 MEDIUM | ||
| A flaw was found in crun. After pivot_root, reopening /dev/null for stdio can follow a symlink and attach a host file to container stdio, then change that file's ownership. Affected versions are crun 1.29.1 and earlier. Default configurations that mount a fresh /dev are not exposed. No fixed release is available yet. | |||||
| CVE-2026-103263 | 2026-10-01 | N/A | 5.9 MEDIUM | ||
| Tornado before 6.5.9 contains a path traversal vulnerability in StaticFileHandler that follows symbolic links inside the static root without confirming the resolved target stays within it. When a symlink pointing outside the static directory exists inside it, unauthenticated attackers can request it to read files such as configuration files, private keys, and application secrets accessible to the process user. | |||||
| CVE-2026-93353 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 3.1 LOW | ||
| copyparty contains a volume restriction bypass vulnerability in its SFTP front end that allows authenticated SFTP users to create, remove, and truncate arbitrary paths outside permitted volume boundaries by exploiting three handlers that bypass the xvol volflag enforcement. The _mkdir, _rmdir, and _chattr handlers construct destination paths using vfs.get(), vn.canonical(), and os.path.join() without invoking the chk_ap access check, enabling attackers to traverse symlinks leaving a volume's top directory and perform unauthorized file creation, deletion, or truncation via SSH_FXP_SETSTAT operations on paths outside any volume the account is authorized to access. | |||||
| CVE-2026-79534 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 5.9 MEDIUM | ||
| mark3labs mcp-filesystem-server v0.11.1 is vulnerable to Directory Traversal due to an improper link resolution in validatePath (filesystemserver/handler/helper.go). When filepath.EvalSymlinks returns os.IsNotExist for a dangling symlink, the fallback validates only the parent directory and returns the unresolved path, so write_file (and modify_file, copy_file, move_file, create_directory) follows a pre-existing dangling symlink located inside an allowed directory and creates a file outside the configured allowed directories. | |||||
| CVE-2026-10739 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Cato Networks SDP Client for Windows before 6.12.6 allows a local user to delete arbitrary files with SYSTEM privileges via improper validation of a client-supplied SID over a local IPC named pipe. | |||||
| CVE-2026-101894 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 9.1 CRITICAL | ||
| The decompress package for Node.js extracts archives. Prior to 10.2.2 and 11.1.4, the default decompress(input, output) API relies on lexical containment checks that do not account for the kernel following a planted symlink chain. An attacker can supply a crafted archive containing chained symlink entries so that a later entry resolves outside the output directory. This allows files outside output to be read or written, and overwriting startup scripts or configuration can lead to remote code execution. The maintained @xhmikosr/decompress package is fixed in 10.2.2 and 11.1.4, but the separately affected unmaintained decompress package remains unpatched through 4.2.1. This vulnerability results from a bypass of the incomplete hardening for CVE-2026-53486. @xhmikosr/decompress is fixed in versions 10.2.2 and 11.1.4. | |||||
| CVE-2026-55828 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | N/A | ||
| qbee transport is a remote access transport protocol implementation. Prior to 1.26.25, the extractTar routine uses strictly lexical path validation that does not account for on-disk symlinks created earlier in the extraction process. A crafted tar archive can use a symlink chain to write or overwrite files one directory level above the intended extraction path. When qbee-agent performs the extraction with root privileges, this permits a root-privileged file write outside the intended destination. This issue is fixed in version 1.26.25. | |||||
| CVE-2026-59944 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 6.1 MEDIUM | ||
| Composer is a dependency Manager for the PHP language. From 1.0 until 2.2.30 and from 2.3.0 until 2.10.3, a malicious or compromised dependency can bypass the earlier CVE-2026-59946 binary-path hardening because Composer validates literal parent-directory segments only during dependency resolution, while the symlink and installed-metadata paths described by the advisory skip that validation. A package can ship an in-package binary symlink that resolves outside its installation directory, or attacker-influenced vendor/composer/installed.json metadata can provide an escaping binary path during a reinstall or regeneration of missing vendor/bin entries. The installed-metadata path is reachable only when the vendor directory was not populated by the same validated install run, such as when it is restored from an untrusted cache, copied from an earlier build stage, carried over from an older Composer run, or writable by a lower-trust build step. Composer can follow the path, change the external target's permissions to make it world-readable and executable, and create a runnable vendor/bin proxy to that external file. The issue does not directly read or transmit data and does not by itself provide remote code execution. This issue is fixed in versions 2.2.30 and 2.10.3. | |||||
| CVE-2026-81310 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 6.6 MEDIUM | ||
| Image Scanner Driver for Linux contains a link following vulnerability. An attacker who can log in to a Linux system where the product is installed may overwrite arbitrary files by using a special method in advance. | |||||
| CVE-2026-92371 | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 7.0 HIGH | ||
| TeamViewer Full Client and Host for Linux prior version 15.82 contains an improper path validation vulnerability in the Cloud Session Recording (CSR) functionality. By exploiting a race condition during path validation and subsequent file access, a local authenticated attacker may cause privileged file operations in unintended locations on the affected system. | |||||
| CVE-2026-100690 | 1 Gohugo | 1 Hugo | 2026-09-30 | N/A | 7.5 HIGH |
| Hugo versions from v0.161.0 through v0.165.0 run Node.js tools (css.PostCSS, css.TailwindCSS, js.Babel) under the Node.js permission model to restrict file system reads to the project directory and configured mounts. Because the Node.js permission model validates only the lexical path and follows symbolic links that point outside the allowed set, Hugo did not detect symlinks escaping the sandbox. An attacker who can contribute content to a Hugo project (for example via a pull request) can commit a symlink such as assets/css/x.css -> /etc/passwd together with a PostCSS plugin that reads it, allowing any file readable by the Hugo build process to be disclosed and potentially embedded in the published site. This affects builds using the default security configuration; projects that do not invoke Node.js tools are unaffected. Fixed in v0.166.0, which scans allowed paths and fails the build when a symbolic link resolves outside them. | |||||
| CVE-2026-102242 | 2026-09-29 | N/A | N/A | ||
| Improper link resolution (CWE-59 / CWE-22) in the allowedLocalRoots path validation in Google MCP Toolbox for Databases versions 1.2.0 through 1.9.0 allows a remote authenticated attacker with tool execution permissions to bypass directory boundary restrictions via symbolic links. Because path validation checks directories lexically without resolving symbolic links first, an attacker can access or overwrite arbitrary local files located outside the permitted root directories. | |||||
