CVE-2023-53586 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 8.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: target: Fix multiple LUN_RESET handling This fixes a bug where an initiator thinks a LUN_RESET has cleaned up running commands when it hasn't. The bug was added in commit 51ec502a3266 ("target: Delete tmr from list before processing"). The problem occurs when: 1. We have N I/O cmds running in the target layer spread over 2 sessions. 2. The initiator sends a LUN_RESET for each session. 3. session1's LUN_RESET loops over all the running commands from both sessions and moves them to its local drain_task_list. 4. session2's LUN_RESET does not see the LUN_RESET from session1 because the commit above has it remove itself. session2 also does not see any commands since the other reset moved them off the state lists. 5. sessions2's LUN_RESET will then complete with a successful response. 6. sessions2's inititor believes the running commands on its session are now cleaned up due to the successful response and cleans up the running commands from its side. It then restarts them. 7. The commands do eventually complete on the backend and the target starts to return aborted task statuses for them. The initiator will either throw a invalid ITT error or might accidentally lookup a new task if the ITT has been reallocated already. Fix the bug by reverting the patch, and serialize the execution of LUN_RESETs and Preempt and Aborts. Also prevent us from waiting on LUN_RESETs in core_tmr_drain_tmr_list, because it turns out the original patch fixed a bug that was not mentioned. For LUN_RESET1 core_tmr_drain_tmr_list can see a second LUN_RESET and wait on it. Then the second reset will run core_tmr_drain_tmr_list and see the first reset and wait on it resulting in a deadlock.
CVE-2023-53510 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ufs: core: Fix handling of lrbp->cmd ufshcd_queuecommand() may be called two times in a row for a SCSI command before it is completed. Hence make the following changes: - In the functions that submit a command, do not check the old value of lrbp->cmd nor clear lrbp->cmd in error paths. - In ufshcd_release_scsi_cmd(), do not clear lrbp->cmd. See also scsi_send_eh_cmnd(). This commit prevents that the following appears if a command times out: WARNING: at drivers/ufs/core/ufshcd.c:2965 ufshcd_queuecommand+0x6f8/0x9a8 Call trace: ufshcd_queuecommand+0x6f8/0x9a8 scsi_send_eh_cmnd+0x2c0/0x960 scsi_eh_test_devices+0x100/0x314 scsi_eh_ready_devs+0xd90/0x114c scsi_error_handler+0x2b4/0xb70 kthread+0x16c/0x1e0
CVE-2023-53360 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 9.8 CRITICAL
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4.2: Rework scratch handling for READ_PLUS (again) I found that the read code might send multiple requests using the same nfs_pgio_header, but nfs4_proc_read_setup() is only called once. This is how we ended up occasionally double-freeing the scratch buffer, but also means we set a NULL pointer but non-zero length to the xdr scratch buffer. This results in an oops the first time decoding needs to copy something to scratch, which frequently happens when decoding READ_PLUS hole segments. I fix this by moving scratch handling into the pageio read code. I provide a function to allocate scratch space for decoding read replies, and free the scratch buffer when the nfs_pgio_header is freed.
CVE-2023-52739 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Fix page corruption caused by racy check in __free_pages When we upgraded our kernel, we started seeing some page corruption like the following consistently: BUG: Bad page state in process ganesha.nfsd pfn:1304ca page:0000000022261c55 refcount:0 mapcount:-128 mapping:0000000000000000 index:0x0 pfn:0x1304ca flags: 0x17ffffc0000000() raw: 0017ffffc0000000 ffff8a513ffd4c98 ffffeee24b35ec08 0000000000000000 raw: 0000000000000000 0000000000000001 00000000ffffff7f 0000000000000000 page dumped because: nonzero mapcount CPU: 0 PID: 15567 Comm: ganesha.nfsd Kdump: loaded Tainted: P B O 5.10.158-1.nutanix.20221209.el7.x86_64 #1 Hardware name: VMware, Inc. Sometimes, it would also show up as corruption in the free list pointer and cause crashes. After bisecting the issue, we found the issue started from commit e320d3012d25 ("mm/page_alloc.c: fix freeing non-compound pages"): if (put_page_testzero(page)) free_the_page(page, order); else if (!PageHead(page)) while (order-- > 0) free_the_page(page + (1 << order), order); So the problem is the check PageHead is racy because at this point we already dropped our reference to the page. So even if we came in with compound page, the page can already be freed and PageHead can return false and we will end up freeing all the tail pages causing double free.
CVE-2023-52691 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm: fix a double-free in si_dpm_init When the allocation of adev->pm.dpm.dyn_state.vddc_dependency_on_dispclk.entries fails, amdgpu_free_extended_power_table is called to free some fields of adev. However, when the control flow returns to si_dpm_sw_init, it goes to label dpm_failed and calls si_dpm_fini, which calls amdgpu_free_extended_power_table again and free those fields again. Thus a double-free is triggered.
CVE-2023-52688 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: fix the error handler of rfkill config When the core rfkill config throws error, it should free the allocated resources. Currently it is not freeing the core pdev create resources. Avoid this issue by calling the core pdev destroy in the error handler of core rfkill config. Found this issue in the code review and it is compile tested only.
CVE-2023-52679 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of: Fix double free in of_parse_phandle_with_args_map In of_parse_phandle_with_args_map() the inner loop that iterates through the map entries calls of_node_put(new) to free the reference acquired by the previous iteration of the inner loop. This assumes that the value of "new" is NULL on the first iteration of the inner loop. Make sure that this is true in all iterations of the outer loop by setting "new" to NULL after its value is assigned to "cur". Extend the unittest to detect the double free and add an additional test case that actually triggers this path.
CVE-2023-52667 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5e: fix a potential double-free in fs_any_create_groups When kcalloc() for ft->g succeeds but kvzalloc() for in fails, fs_any_create_groups() will free ft->g. However, its caller fs_any_create_table() will free ft->g again through calling mlx5e_destroy_flow_table(), which will lead to a double-free. Fix this by setting ft->g to NULL in fs_any_create_groups().
CVE-2023-52664 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: atlantic: eliminate double free in error handling logic Driver has a logic leak in ring data allocation/free, where aq_ring_free could be called multiple times on same ring, if system is under stress and got memory allocation error. Ring pointer was used as an indicator of failure, but this is not correct since only ring data is allocated/deallocated. Ring itself is an array member. Changing ring allocation functions to return error code directly. This simplifies error handling and eliminates aq_ring_free on higher layer.

But after core-1 device_unregister, put_device and before doing kfree, the core-2 may get_device. Then: 1. After core-1 kfree idev, the core-2 will do use-after-free for idev. 2. When core-2 do uio_release and put_device, the idev will be double freed. To address this issue, we can get idev atomic & inc idev reference with minor_lock.

CVE-2022-50248 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: fix double free on tx path. We see kernel crashes and lockups and KASAN errors related to ax210 firmware crashes. One of the KASAN dumps pointed at the tx path, and it appears there is indeed a way to double-free an skb. If iwl_mvm_tx_skb_sta returns non-zero, then the 'skb' sent into the method will be freed. But, in case where we build TSO skb buffer, the skb may also be freed in error case. So, return 0 in that particular error case and do cleanup manually. CVE-2022-49990 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390: fix double free of GS and RI CBs on fork() failure The pointers for guarded storage and runtime instrumentation control blocks are stored in the thread_struct of the associated task. These pointers are initially copied on fork() via arch_dup_task_struct() and then cleared via copy_thread() before fork() returns. If fork() happens to fail after the initial task dup and before copy_thread(), the newly allocated task and associated thread_struct memory are freed via free_task() -> arch_release_task_struct(). This results in a double free of the guarded storage and runtime info structs because the fields in the failed task still refer to memory associated with the source task. This problem can manifest as a BUG_ON() in set_freepointer() (with CONFIG_SLAB_FREELIST_HARDENED enabled) or KASAN splat (if enabled) when running trinity syscall fuzz tests on s390x. To avoid this problem, clear the associated pointer fields in arch_dup_task_struct() immediately after the new task is copied. Note that the RI flag is still cleared in copy_thread() because it resides in thread stack memory and that is where stack info is copied.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-transport: fix double ata_host_put() in ata_tport_add() In the error path in ata_tport_add(), when calling put_device(), ata_tport_release() is called, it will put the refcount of 'ap->host'. And then ata_host_put() is called again, the refcount is decreased to 0, ata_host_release() is called, all ports are freed and set to null. When unbinding the device after failure, ata_host_stop() is called to release the resources, it leads a null-ptr-deref(), because all the ports all freed and null. CVE-2022-49789 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.0 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: zfcp: Fix double free of FSF request when qdio send fails We used to use the wrong type of integer in 'zfcp_fsf_req_send()' to cache the FSF request ID when sending a new FSF request. This is used in case the sending fails and we need to remove the request from our internal hash table again (so we don't keep an invalid reference and use it when we free the request again). In 'zfcp_fsf_req_send()' we used to cache the ID as 'int' (signed and 32 bit wide), but the rest of the zfcp code (and the firmware specification) handles the ID as 'unsigned long'/'u64' (unsigned and 64 bit wide [s390x ELF ABI]). For one this has the obvious problem that when the ID grows past 32 bit (this can happen reasonably fast) it is truncated to 32 bit when storing it in the cache variable and so doesn't match the original ID anymore. The second less obvious problem is that even when the original ID has not yet grown past 32 bit, as soon as the 32nd bit is set in the original ID (0x80000000 = 2'147'483'648) we will have a mismatch when we cast it back to 'unsigned long'. As the cached variable is of a signed type, the compiler will choose a sign-extending instruction to load the 32 bit variable into a 64 bit register (e.g.: 'lgf %r11,188(%r15)'). So once we pass the cached variable into 'zfcp_reqlist_find_rm()' to remove the request again all the leading zeros will be flipped to ones to extend the sign and won't match the original ID anymore (this has been observed in practice). If we can't successfully remove the request from the hash table again after 'zfcp_qdio_send()' fails (this happens regularly when zfcp cannot notify the adapter about new work because the adapter is already gone during e.g. a ChpID toggle) we will end up with a double free. We unconditionally free the request in the calling function when 'zfcp_fsf_req_send()' fails, but because the request is still in the hash table we end up with a stale memory reference, and once the zfcp adapter is either reset during recovery or shutdown we end up freeing the same memory twice. The resulting stack traces vary depending on the kernel and have no direct correlation to the place where the bug occurs. Here are three examples that have been seen in practice: list_del corruption. next->prev should be 00000001b9d13800, but was 00000000dead4ead. CVE-2022-49775 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-04 N/A 7.8 HIGH
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: cdg: allow tcp_cdg_release() to be called multiple times Apparently, mptcp is able to call tcp_disconnect() on an already disconnected flow. This is generally fine, unless current congestion control is CDG, because it might trigger a double-free [1] Instead of fixing MPTCP, and future bugs, we can make tcp_disconnect() more resilient.
